Job Overview: The On-Call security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Guard position is crucial for maintaining a safe and secure environment for UN House personnel and visitors. The Security Guard will work under the supervision of the Head of Administration and the Security Assistant, ensuring the protection of UN premises and the safety of staff and visitors. This role involves performing security duties in rotating shifts, including nights, and requires the guard to be in uniform and equipped with approved security tools. The position is on an as-needed basis, meaning there is no guaranteed minimum number of working hours, and the guard must be prepared to respond to operational requirements as they arise. The Security Guard is expected to promote a client-oriented approach while ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Security Guard will perform a variety of tasks to ensure a safe and secure environment for UN House personnel and assets. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting Access Control: - Provide safety and security for all UN House personnel and visitors. - Conduct pedestrian and vehicular access control, ensuring proper identification and screening of all individuals and vehicles. - Prevent unauthorized access to UN House facilities and ensure that all equipment removal is authorized. - Utilize technical screening equipment to prevent prohibited items from entering the facility. - Maintain control of the emergency key system and its log sheet. - Apply risk-based judgment and escalate security concerns immediately.
Supporting Patrolling and Physical Security Checks: - Conduct regular patrols of the UN House, including internal areas and external perimeters. - Perform physical security checks of the compound and report any deficiencies in security equipment or infrastructure. - Document findings in shift reports and report security concerns through the established chain.
Supporting Control Center Operations: - Maintain the operation of the security control center and monitor various systems, including emergency lines and video surveillance. - Familiarize with existing procedures and comply with them.
Supporting Emergency Response: - Act as a response officer during emergencies, implementing UN House emergency procedures. - Report incidents, disturbances, or suspicious activities promptly.
Performing Other Duties: - Maintain peace and order within UN House and keep logbooks as per routine. - Provide security support for organized events and participate in mandatory security briefings and training. - Comply with UN Code of Conduct and security policies at all times.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of secondary education and at least two years of relevant work experience in the security field. Candidates should have experience in access control, video monitoring, patrolling, and the protection of premises and assets. Additionally, experience in security reporting, record-keeping, and maintenance of logbooks is essential. Proficiency in Windows and MS Office applications is also required.
