Job Overview: The IT Solutions Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and user support of various digital tools and systems within the WFP framework. This position requires the incumbent to work closely with senior colleagues, assisting in coding, configuration, and deployment tasks while adhering to established specifications and procedures. The role involves routine monitoring and support for applications and databases hosted on platforms like AWS, as well as assisting in the rollout of new systems and features. The incumbent will be expected to engage with users to understand their needs and provide solutions, ensuring that the applications function effectively and meet the operational requirements of WFP. This position is vital for maintaining the technological backbone that supports WFP's humanitarian efforts, ensuring that the organization can deliver timely and effective assistance to those in need.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: maintaining and enhancing web-based applications and digital tools by completing assigned frontend and backend coding tasks; assisting senior colleagues in implementing application features using technologies such as React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP/Laravel; performing basic unit and functional testing; troubleshooting routine issues and applying documented fixes; responding to user queries and resolving application issues; assisting with application installation, configuration, deployment, and release activities; collecting and documenting user needs and business requirements; following IT security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and data protection procedures; and performing other related duties as required. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong foundation in software development, with at least four years of progressive experience in the field. A solid understanding of front-end technologies such as React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is essential, along with familiarity with back-end coding tasks using PHP, Laravel, or similar frameworks. Experience in application testing, troubleshooting, and user support is also required. Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively within a team are critical for success in this role. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to WFP's values and mission, particularly in the context of humanitarian assistance.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. However, a university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is highly desirable and will be considered an advantage in the selection process. This educational background provides the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for the technical aspects of the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant experience in software development, with a focus on web-based applications. Experience in systems engineering, data engineering, or data analysis is considered a plus.
