Job Overview: The Mission Spokesperson position at the OSCE Mission to Moldova is a critical role that involves managing the organization's communication strategy and public relations efforts. The spokesperson will be responsible for drafting press releases, statements, and media advisories, ensuring that accurate and timely information about the Mission's activities is disseminated to the public and media. The spokesperson will also oversee the Mission's social media presence and website, ensuring that the Mission's message is effectively communicated across all platforms. Additionally, the role involves conducting outreach activities and managing media inquiries, making it essential for the spokesperson to have a strong understanding of the political landscape in Moldova and the OSCE's objectives in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Mission Spokesperson will perform a variety of duties under the supervision of the Deputy Head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. Key responsibilities include: drafting and managing the clearance process for press releases, statements, and media advisories; preparing daily news digests and summaries; developing and implementing a comprehensive media strategy; supervising the monitoring of local and international media; handling interview requests from journalists; conducting press conferences and media events; managing projects related to media freedom and public outreach; maintaining close liaison with the OSCE Secretariat's Communications and Media Relations Section; overseeing the Mission's social media presence; and participating in security zone monitoring programs. The spokesperson will also supervise one mission member and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in journalism, international relations, communications, public relations, media studies, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least six years of relevant professional experience in media and public affairs, including experience in handling media inquiries and managing information dissemination. Excellent writing skills and the ability to draft documents for diverse audiences are essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong project management skills, knowledge of the political situation in Moldova, and a commitment to gender equality objectives.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree or equivalent in journalism, international relations, communications, public relations, media studies, or a related field is required for this position. Professional certification in journalism or media technology is also considered an asset.
Experience: A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience in media and public affairs is required. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing media inquiries, drafting documents for various audiences, and implementing media strategies. Experience in project management and knowledge of the political landscape in Moldova are also important.
Languages: Professional fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory. A working knowledge of Russian is also required, while knowledge of Romanian is considered desirable. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills to effectively engage with diverse audiences.
Additional Notes: This position is classified as a Senior Professional level (S2) and is a full-time, fixed-term role. The OSCE offers a Board and Lodging Allowance (BLA) of EUR 119 per day, subject to change. Social benefits include the possibility of participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme.
