Job Overview:
The position of Writer-Editor at UNFPA Uzbekistan is designed to engage highly creative and professional individuals to document various activities and programs aimed at multiple audiences, including the general public, donors, and partners. This role is part of a Long-Term Agreement (LTA) that facilitates the hiring of professionals for specific projects, campaigns, and humanitarian emergency materials. The consultant will be responsible for producing compelling digital content, publications, and reports that effectively communicate UNFPA's mission and activities. The overall objective is to develop advocacy, communication, and campaign materials that raise awareness of UNFPA's work in Uzbekistan, particularly in relation to the Country Programme Document (CPD) for 2026-2030.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with providing writing, editing, and proofreading services for a variety of communication products. This includes creating event coverage stories, human interest stories, reports of UNFPA-supported events, and publications. Specific duties include: - Writing digital content for the UNFPA website, including event coverage stories (250-800 words) with a first draft due in 2-3 days. - Producing human interest stories or media articles (500-1,500 words) with a first draft due in 3-5 days. - Compiling reports of UNFPA-supported events, workshops, and projects (1,500-8,000 words) with a first draft due in 3-5 days. - Reviewing and editing publications and briefing kits, ensuring clarity and adherence to UNFPA quality standards. - Delivering high-quality documents in English, Uzbek, or Russian within agreed timelines, incorporating feedback from UNFPA. - Maintaining confidentiality of all materials and ensuring that all content is branded solely with UNFPA's identity.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 3 years of experience in writing stories, articles, features, or reports on social issues for public audiences, preferably within a media or development context. Experience as a writer-editor is essential. For local consultancy, fluency in written and spoken Uzbek and/or Russian is required, while for international consultancy, fluency in English is mandatory. Experience working with UNFPA or other UN agencies is considered an asset, and basic knowledge of English is advantageous for local consultants.
