Job Overview:
The Activism and Outreach Specialist will play a pivotal role in managing WWF's Panda Ambassador Program, which serves as the organization's primary activism vehicle. This position involves engaging a diverse group of activists in conservation advocacy and driving meaningful participation in WWF's campaigns and initiatives. The Specialist will be responsible for the daily operations of the Panda Ambassador Program, including recruitment, onboarding, project coordination, and leadership development. The role requires the development of resources and strategies that empower Ambassadors, ensuring their efforts align with WWF’s broader campaigns while also elevating their personal stories. Additionally, the Specialist will support various Activism and Outreach functions beyond the Panda Ambassador Program, contributing to the overall mission of WWF.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Activism and Outreach Specialist include:
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the Panda Ambassador Program, which encompasses recruitment, candidate vetting, onboarding, and advising on various projects.
  • Developing and implementing targeted recruitment strategies to attract high-engagement candidates for the program.
  • Coordinating and creating resources such as toolkits, project templates, and educational materials to assist Ambassadors in their projects and engagement efforts, utilizing tools like Airtable and Canva.
  • Leading monthly calls with Panda Ambassadors to foster community engagement through updates, shout-outs, and challenges.
  • Driving consistent engagement within the Panda Ambassador online community platform.
  • Ensuring that Ambassador activities are in alignment with broader campaign narratives.
  • Researching and recommending best practices, technologies, tools, and tactics for Activism and Outreach.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of major Activism and Outreach events, including WWF’s annual Lobby Day and expert panel discussions.
  • Managing the annual Youth Conservation Leadership Award application and review process, as well as engaging with awardees throughout the year. 1
  • Coordinating and implementing WWF's activism social media strategy, which includes content creation, scheduling posts, and collaborating with other organizational channels on the @WWF_Act Instagram account. 1
  • Tracking and reporting on key engagement metrics to provide data-driven insights aimed at improving program effectiveness. 1
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Activism and Outreach Specialist position include:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in online advocacy or activism.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Canva and Airtable, as well as social media content creation for platforms like Instagram and X/Twitter.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • A proven ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent proactive communication skills, timely responsiveness, and the ability to foster collaboration across departments.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work while meeting deadlines.

Educational Background:
