Job Overview:
The Executive Specialist will provide high-quality support to the management and oversight of the Bangladesh Country Office. This role involves enabling effective planning of strategic actions and supporting the development and implementation of internal guidelines and operating procedures. The incumbent will play a critical role in promoting organizational culture and innovation, helping to inform strategic decision-making by keeping the Representative updated on political, social, and economic trends. The position contributes to the effective management of the Office of the Representative and the Country Programme, ensuring alignment with Bangladesh's national priorities and accelerating progress towards sustainable outcomes for every child.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties include coordinating and monitoring actions from various management bodies, resolving key issues deferred to the Representative, establishing effective communication lines with sections and external partners, and providing timely reviews and feedback on referred questions. The Executive Specialist will liaise with colleagues within the office and the Asia Pacific Regional Office, prepare documents for the Representative, and manage the flow of information. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure smooth operations and effective functioning of senior leadership.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, or a relevant field. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in external relations, public affairs, or international development cooperation is required, preferably within the UN or a government institution. Proven experience in preparing policy documents and advocacy strategies, providing strategic advice to senior leadership, and coordinating executive office operations is essential. Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and planning skills are mandatory.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as International Relations, Political Science, or Public Administration is required for this position. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of international development and the specific challenges faced by UNICEF in its mission.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience, particularly in external relations, public affairs, or international development cooperation. Experience within the UN system or similar international organizations is preferred, especially in large and complex office environments. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work with high-level partners and provide strategic advice to senior leadership.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is required, and knowledge of another UN language or the local language of the duty station is considered an asset. Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and advocacy.
