Job Overview:
The IDB Group is seeking an active graduate student for the position of Water security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Program Support Intern. This internship is part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program, which is a competitive, paid opportunity designed for university students from member countries. The intern will work at the IDB Headquarters in Washington, D.C., gaining valuable experience in development work and corporate management. The primary focus of this role will be to support the Caribbean team within the Water and Sanitation Division, providing operational and analytical support as needed. The intern will engage in various tasks, including technical support for operational activities, preparation of reports and presentations, and coordination with clients and partners. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn about water resources management and contribute to impactful projects in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

• Providing technical support to the Water and Sanitation Division (WSA) in operational and analytical activities.
• Assisting in the preparation of reports, technical analyses, and presentations related to water security and management.
• Supporting the development of materials for client and donor engagement, including seminars, workshops, and events.
• Contributing to the identification, preparation, and assessment of sector studies, guidelines, and technical notes.
• Engaging in research and analysis related to water supply, sanitation, desalination, and environmental aspects of water resources management.
• Collaborating with team members to ensure effective communication and project execution.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet several qualifications to be considered for this internship. They must be a national of an IDB member country and currently enrolled in a graduate program (master’s or Ph.D.) at an accredited university. The graduation date must be after the internship period, ensuring that candidates are active students throughout the internship. Additionally, candidates should not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest, and this must be their first internship with the IDB Group. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to learning and collaboration, with a focus on client needs and effective communication.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate will be an active graduate student pursuing a degree in engineering, water resources management, natural resource management, environmental sciences, economics, or geosciences. The educational institution must be accredited, and candidates should have completed at least 50% of their coursework by the time of application. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of water management and environmental sustainability.

Experience:
While specific prior experience is not mandatory, candidates with experience in water management, environmental sustainability, and resilience will be favored. Familiarity with GEF- and GCF-funded projects, particularly in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region, is considered an asset. Proven experience in applied research related to water security and sustainable water management will enhance a candidate's application.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and candidates with a working knowledge of one additional Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) will have an advantage. This multilingual capability is essential for effective communication within the diverse environment of the IDB Group and for engaging with various stakeholders.
