Job Overview:
The IDB Group is seeking an active graduate student for a paid internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position aimed at supporting data management and hydroclimatic risk analytics. This internship is part of the 2027 Winter Internship Program, which offers university students from member countries the opportunity to gain professional experience in development work and corporate management. The intern will be responsible for consolidating and managing climate and hydrological geospatial datasets, ensuring data quality and accessibility. They will support hydroclimatic risk analyses related to water infrastructure, utilizing statistical and geospatial tools to model and analyze data on floods, droughts, and climate change impacts. The intern will also develop data visualizations and assist in preparing technical outputs, collaborating with the team to integrate climate risks into development initiatives in the Amazon Basin.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's primary duties will include consolidating, managing, and curating climate and hydrological datasets relevant to hydroclimatic risk assessment. They will ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility while supporting hydroclimatic risk analyses of water infrastructure. This involves modeling, compiling, processing, and analyzing data on floods, droughts, extreme precipitation, and climate change impacts using statistical and geospatial tools such as GIS and HydroBID. The intern will develop data visualizations, maps, dashboards, and analytical summaries to support evidence-based decision-making for water security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and climate resilience operations. Additionally, they will assist in preparing technical outputs, including reports and presentations, and collaborate with the team on research and project preparation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be active graduate students in engineering, environmental sciences, or data management from an accredited university, with a graduation date after the internship period. They should possess fluency in English and a working knowledge of one other Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is advantageous. Key skills include continuous learning, collaboration, client focus, effective communication, and innovation. Soft skills such as being result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, self-motivated, and possessing excellent time management skills are essential. Technical skills required include familiarity with hydroclimatic datasets, proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and Excel for data processing and analysis, experience with GIS platforms (QGIS), and the ability to develop dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI and Tableau.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in a graduate program (master’s or Ph.D.) as of the internship's starting date. A minimum of 50% of coursework must be completed at the time of application, and candidates must submit their academic transcripts and a university letter certifying their student status. The graduation date must be after the internship period, ensuring that candidates are active students throughout the internship.

Experience:
Candidates should ideally have some experience or familiarity with hydroclimatic, climate, environmental, and socioeconomic datasets, as well as a foundational understanding of hydrology and climate change impacts. Experience with data analysis and programming, particularly in Python, R, SQL, and Excel, is crucial for processing and analyzing data effectively. Familiarity with GIS platforms and spatial data analysis is also important for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and having a working knowledge of one additional Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is considered a plus. This multilingual capability will enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse environment of the IDB Group.

• The contract type is Intern Consultant, lasting for two months. Candidates must be nationals of an IDB member country and should not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
