Job Overview:
As a Family Support Specialist, you will be integral to the Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault programs, focusing on supporting individuals and families to create positive change. This role involves working within a case management framework in an outreach capacity, providing essential support to those experiencing domestic, family, or sexual violence. The position is casual, requiring flexibility in hours, as services are provided until 10 PM, seven days a week. Your work will directly contribute to creating lasting change for children and families affected by violence, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include providing holistic case management to vulnerable clients, ensuring that the voices of children and young people are prioritized in all interactions. You will identify client strengths, establish program goals, and regularly review progress towards these goals. Additionally, you will promote skills that enhance health, safety, and development among clients. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, writing reports, and analyzing data to evaluate client outcomes and program effectiveness. Collaboration with other team members and stakeholders will be essential to ensure comprehensive support for clients.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate experience in case management, particularly within the domestic and family violence sector. A strong understanding of relevant legislation and the ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities is crucial. Additionally, candidates should possess strong report writing, analytical, and evaluation skills, including proficiency in data collation and analysis. A tertiary qualification in a relevant field is preferred, along with significant experience in the sector.

Educational Background:
A tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with significant relevant experience may also be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. Continuous professional development and training in domestic and family violence support will be beneficial.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in case management, particularly in contexts involving domestic and family violence. Experience working with Indigenous communities and understanding the unique challenges they face is highly valued. Candidates should also have a proven track record of supporting vulnerable populations and navigating complex social issues.

Languages:
While English is the mandatory language for this position, proficiency in additional languages, particularly those spoken by local Indigenous communities, would be advantageous and is encouraged.

Additional Notes:
This position is casual, with flexible hours required to meet the needs of clients. The organization offers a generous award rate salary of $55.73 per hour plus superannuation and full salary packaging benefits. Additional remote allowances are provided for casual employees.
