Job Overview:
The Policy and Advocacy Manager will report to the Global Policy and Advocacy director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Senior Director within the Chief Impact Office. This role is pivotal in advancing FHI 360's advocacy efforts by coordinating the organization-wide policy comment process, creating advocacy materials, managing projects, and organizing meetings and events. The Manager will support the formulation and execution of advocacy objectives, develop issue positions, training materials, and presentations for stakeholders. Additionally, the role involves monitoring legislative trends, analyzing emerging issues, and crafting key messages to enhance FHI 360's policy impact. The Manager will also track Global Policy and Advocacy KPIs and budget outcomes, ensuring active engagement on strategic issues and fostering partnerships to strengthen advocacy capacity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Policy and Advocacy Manager will contribute to the development and execution of advocacy strategies that support health and economic opportunity objectives. Responsibilities include engaging with stakeholders such as policymakers and NGO coalition partners, coordinating internal communication, leading the U.S. government policy comment process, and planning policy events and briefings. The Manager will represent FHI 360 at national and international policy forums, produce advocacy communications products, and develop a global policy and advocacy communications plan. The role requires establishing relationships with Members of Congress and federal officials, collaborating with various teams to support an evidence-based advocacy agenda, and managing inputs for reports and presentations. The Manager will also mentor junior staff, track advocacy performance indicators, and undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess extensive experience in policy and advocacy work, particularly in international development or U.S. domestic policy. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with diverse teams, and experience in building alliances and coalitions are essential. A deep understanding of the Congressional budget process and familiarity with relevant government agencies is required. Proficiency in MS Office and data management systems, along with strong organizational and communication skills, is necessary. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive mindset, with exceptional written and spoken English skills. The ability to work independently and handle sensitive tasks is also crucial.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, Communications, or related fields is required. An advanced degree such as a Master’s or Doctorate in a relevant field is preferred. Relevant certifications or their international equivalents may also be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in public policy and advocacy communications. Experience working on Capitol Hill, with government agencies, or implementing partners is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with congressional staff and U.S. Government stakeholders is essential, along with experience working with coalitions across sectors and viewpoints.

Languages:
Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is mandatory. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not explicitly required.

The position is based in Washington DC, and candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer. The role may require international and domestic travel, anticipated at up to 10%. The expected salary range for this position is between $90,000 and $110,000 annually, with compensation determined based on various factors including experience and education.
