Job Overview: The Driver position is integral to the Fund Administration Unit, providing essential transportation and logistical support for programmatic activities and events organized by the Office of the Head of Mission and various programmes. The incumbent will be responsible for the daily maintenance of the assigned office vehicle, ensuring it is in good running condition, and adhering to road safety and security measures. This role requires the preparation of trip tickets, collection of necessary documents for office transfers, and making small purchases for office needs. The Driver must maintain a high level of professionalism and efficiency in all tasks, contributing to the smooth operation of the office's activities and ensuring that all logistical needs are met promptly and effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including:
Providing logistical support for the preparation of programmatic activities and events, including collecting necessary documents from suppliers and vendors after events and transferring them to the office.
Handling transportation for authorized personnel, delivering and collecting mail, documents, and other items, meeting official personnel at the airport, and facilitating customs formalities as required.
Ensuring the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires, and informing the Senior Driver of any urgent maintenance needs.
Keeping the vehicle clean and logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, and greasing, while ensuring compliance with safety and security rules and regulations.
Taking necessary steps in case of involvement in an accident, following established protocols and procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess primary education and a valid driver's license, with a strong understanding of driving rules and regulations, including evasive driving techniques. A minimum of four years of relevant working experience as a driver is required, with experience in an international organization considered an asset. Candidates should have a safe driving record, skills in minor vehicle repair, and good knowledge of Almaty and its surroundings. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse nationalities, religions, and cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, are also required.
