Job Overview: The Digital Communication Officer (U-Report Data Officer) plays a crucial role in enhancing UNICEF's global U-Report programme, which is a digital platform designed to engage young people in advocacy and decision-making processes. This position requires technical expertise in analytics, monitoring and evaluation, and digital insights to strengthen the programme's impact. The officer will be responsible for monitoring U-Report's growth and performance, preparing content for polls and chatbots, analyzing data to produce actionable insights, and developing visualizations to support programme teams and decision-makers. The role also involves utilizing various digital analysis tools to generate performance reports and providing insights on audience behavior and digital engagement opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The key responsibilities of the Digital Communication Officer include:
Assisting in the preparation of RapidPro flows for polls, chatbots, and other U-Report actions, ensuring that monitoring and evaluation structures are in place.
Analyzing poll results, chatbot interactions, and engagement data to produce actionable insights and reports for programme teams, partners, and the U-Report community.
Developing data visualizations and narratives to support programme teams and decision-makers.
Utilizing various digital analysis tools to generate detailed monthly and annual performance reports for U-Report digital platforms and social media.
Providing insights on audience behavior, emerging trends, and digital engagement opportunities.
Supporting Regional and Country Offices in strengthening monitoring and evaluation practices and effectively using U-Report data.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a Bachelor or equivalent degree in Communications, marketing" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Digital Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Information Technology, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant work experience in data analytics, statistics, software development, digital analytics, user behavior analysis, monitoring and evaluation, data visualization, and social media campaign analytics. Proficiency in using RapidPro and either R or Stata for data analysis is mandatory.
Educational Background: Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent first-level university degree in a relevant field such as Communications, Digital Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or Information Technology. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in areas such as data analytics, statistics, software development, digital analytics, user behavior analysis, monitoring and evaluation, and data visualization. Experience in social media and campaign analytics, as well as familiarity with mobile technology platforms and digital engagement initiatives, is also important. Candidates should demonstrate a strong ability to analyze data and produce actionable insights.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an asset. This multilingual capability can enhance communication and collaboration within the organization and with diverse stakeholders.
