Job Overview: The Senior Nuclear Energy Specialist will play a critical role in the World Bank's efforts to support countries in their pursuit of sustainable energy solutions. This position involves providing expert advice on nuclear energy policies, strategies, and technologies. The specialist will be expected to engage with government officials, stakeholders, and other international organizations to promote the safe and effective use of nuclear energy. The specialist will also be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing reports that inform decision-making processes related to nuclear energy projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise and policy advice on nuclear energy development and implementation.
Collaborate with government agencies and stakeholders to assess nuclear energy needs and opportunities.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed nuclear projects.
Develop and deliver training programs and workshops for government officials and industry stakeholders.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of nuclear energy projects and initiatives.
Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
Stay updated on global trends and advancements in nuclear technology and policy.
Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices among member countries and organizations.
Represent the World Bank at international conferences and forums related to nuclear energy.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced degree in nuclear engineering, energy policy, or a related field.
Extensive knowledge of nuclear energy systems, technologies, and regulatory frameworks.
Proven experience in policy development and project management in the energy sector.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with international energy agreements and frameworks.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or higher in nuclear engineering, energy policy, or a closely related field is required. Additional certifications or training in nuclear safety and regulatory compliance are highly desirable.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the nuclear energy sector, including experience in policy formulation, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Experience working with international organizations or in a multi-national context is preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly German or French, is considered an asset.
