Job Overview: The Communications Assistant will be a temporary position for a duration of 5 months and 29 days, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability. The role is situated within the Communications and Media Relations Section (COMMS) of the OSCE Secretariat, which is responsible for strategic communications, media relations, and public outreach. The Communications Assistant will support the increasing demand for communications services and digital content production, contributing to media relations activities, digital communications, and multimedia production. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Chief of Unit and will be expected to produce communications materials, manage social media content, and assist with various communications tasks to enhance the visibility and understanding of the OSCE's activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Assistant will carry out a variety of tasks, including:
Producing communications materials to promote OSCE activities and demonstrate their impact across various channels;
Drafting and implementing social media content and campaigns for OSCE's corporate platforms;
Maintaining and updating content on the OSCE public website and other digital platforms;
Providing first- and second-level communications support to OSCE Field Operations, Institutions, and Secretariat departments;
Responding to media and public inquiries and assisting with media relations activities;
Providing photography and video support for senior management and Secretariat programs, including recording, editing, and publishing multimedia content;
Supporting the preparation of communication products such as news articles, media advisories, press releases, and newsletters;
Coordinating with Communications Officers and communication focal points across the Organization;
Assisting with multimedia production, including graphic design, image editing, and video editing; 1
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with training in communications, journalism, multimedia production, or a related field considered an asset. A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience in journalism, communications, public information, digital communications, or multimedia production is required. A university degree in a relevant field may substitute for up to two years of working experience. Strong writing, editing, and communication skills are essential, along with experience in social media management and website content management. Proficiency in photography, video production, and visual design is also advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work effectively in a multicultural environment. Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with digital communications tools, is necessary.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a completed secondary education. Candidates with training in communications, journalism, multimedia production, or related fields will have an advantage. The monthly remuneration is approximately EUR 3,600, and OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria.
