Job Overview:
The internship position is designed for individuals who are interested in gaining practical experience in financial management and budgetary oversight within the United Nations framework. The intern will be involved in supporting the automation of FBS services, particularly focusing on survey automation and related digital tools. This role provides an excellent opportunity for interns to learn about service improvement, data collection, process documentation, and reporting activities across various units within FBS. Interns will work under the supervision of designated staff members and will be expected to contribute to ongoing projects while developing their skills in financial administration and digital tool utilization.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the Finance and Budget Section. Specific tasks include: assisting in the design, testing, and updating of automated surveys and forms; supporting the collection, organization, and analysis of survey responses and service data; helping to develop or improve trackers, dashboards, templates, and other tools used by FBS units; supporting process mapping and documentation of workflows across the various units such as the Account Unit, Trust Fund Unit, Payroll and Disbursement Unit, Treasury Unit, and Budget Unit; assisting in the preparation of reports, summaries, presentations, and briefing materials based on collected data; reviewing existing manual processes to identify areas for automation; maintaining records and organizing information related to finance, budget, and service delivery activities; coordinating and following up with FBS units on service automation requirements; and assisting with testing, quality checks, and user feedback collection for automated tools. The intern may also be assigned other related duties in support of FBS service automation and survey automation as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be a student in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme; (b) have a field of study closely related to the internship; (c) demonstrate an interest in digital tools, automation, or process improvement through academic coursework or projects; (d) possess exposure to digital tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Forms, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI, and similar tools. Candidates should provide evidence of their qualifications and experiences relevant to the internship.

Educational Background:
Candidates should be pursuing or have completed studies in fields such as administration, business administration, finance, accounting, information systems, data management, public administration, or other related areas that are relevant to administrative and finance support services. It is essential for applicants to indicate their field of study and how it relates to the internship role they are applying for.

Experience:
The internship does not require prior professional work experience; however, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic or project experience that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship. This could include coursework, university projects, or volunteer activities that showcase their skills and interests in finance and budget management.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.

The internship is expected to last for a duration of six months. It is important to note that interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
