Job Overview:
The UNHCR PSP Fundraising Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Donor Care & Development (DCD) team, which was established in 2025 to manage and enhance relationships with individual donors. The intern will assist in various initiatives aimed at improving donor experience and engagement, which are vital for the sustainability of UNHCR's operations in Malaysia. This position involves creating engaging content for communication across multiple platforms, including online and offline channels, and assisting in the planning and execution of donor events. The intern will also be responsible for analyzing donor communication engagement and providing insights to improve future strategies. Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing donor engagement and retention. Key duties include:

• Producing online and offline donor communication materials, such as emails, direct mail, web content, WhatsApp messages, social media posts, and telemarketing scripts.
• Conducting research and developing donor communication materials using internal media libraries and other UNHCR resources.
• Managing and analyzing donor communication engagement metrics for both online and offline channels to assess effectiveness.
• Liaising with and monitoring outsourced vendor services, including printing, mailing, and creative services, to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Updating reports from donor communication platforms like Selligent to track engagement and performance.
• Supporting the planning and execution of donor events, ensuring they are well-organized and impactful.
• Assisting in monitoring, analyzing, and consolidating donor data from various platforms to inform strategies.
• Managing donor inquiries and providing timely responses.
• Performing other related duties as required to support the DCD team and its objectives.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this internship, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Be a recent graduate (having completed their studies within the last two years) or a current student in a graduate or undergraduate program from an accredited university or higher education institution recognized by IAU/UNESCO.
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to the work of UNHCR, such as international relations, social sciences, communications, or a related discipline.
• Not have exhausted the maximum cumulative internship period with UNHCR, which is 8 months for full-time internships and 12 months for part-time internships.
• Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of UNHCR and a passion for humanitarian work.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a strong educational background relevant to the position. This includes having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field that aligns with the work of UNHCR. Relevant fields may include international relations, social sciences, communications, marketing, or any other discipline that provides a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of donor relations and fundraising in a non-profit context. A recent graduation or current enrollment in a graduate program is also required, ensuring that candidates are equipped with contemporary knowledge and skills applicable to the role.

Experience:
While prior experience in fundraising or donor relations is not mandatory, any relevant experience, such as internships, volunteer work, or academic projects related to non-profit organizations, will be considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, independent, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively. Experience with communication strategies, event planning, or data analysis will also be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
The primary language required for this position is English, with a proficiency level of B2 or higher. This is essential for effective communication with donors and stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly Malay, is considered a desirable asset, as it can enhance communication with local donors and communities. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their language skills through relevant academic or professional experiences.

Additional Notes:
This internship is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, with working hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Interns who do not receive financial support from external sources will receive an allowance to help cover living expenses, including food and transportation. The internship typically lasts between two to six months, with the possibility of extension up to eight months for full-time internships and twelve months for part-time internships. Interns are responsible for acquiring and renewing their visas and residence permits, as well as obtaining health insurance coverage applicable to the internship location. UNHCR does not charge any fees during the recruitment process and encourages applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
