Job Overview:
The WBG Pioneer - World Bank Treasury Intern position is part of the World Bank Group’s Internship Program, designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students seeking a high-impact learning experience in global development. Interns will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment, contributing innovative ideas and fresh perspectives while connecting with international professionals dedicated to ending poverty and promoting sustainable development. The internship will last for ten weeks, from June 1st to August 9th, 2027, during which interns will rotate through three different Treasury teams, engaging in discussions with program directors and attending technical sessions with Treasury officers. The internship culminates in a capstone project presented to the Treasury management team, providing interns with a comprehensive understanding of the Treasury's functions and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be assigned to one of the 17 teams within the Treasury, which includes Asset Management, Capital Markets, Partnerships and Advisory, Treasury Client Solutions and Structuring, Treasury Operations, and Pension & Endowments, as well as the Treasury Risk, Compliance, and Controls team. Each intern will work closely with a mentor and coordinator throughout their rotations, engaging in specific projects or tasks as directed by their team. The program aims to hire up to 17 interns, each with a unique rotation schedule to ensure a diverse experience. Interns will participate in weekly discussions, technical sessions, and presentations, allowing them to develop their skills and knowledge in treasury functions and financial markets.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the core eligibility requirements, including being a penultimate-year undergraduate student or a current master’s/Ph.D. student. For the Undergraduate Track, candidates must provide documentation confirming their status as a penultimate-year student, be enrolled in a four-year degree program in finance, business, economics, or a related field, and be prepared to graduate between December 2027 and September 202
  • Candidates must also be in good academic standing, available full-time for the internship, and not have any concurrent employment or internship contracts. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to work in diverse team environments are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes being a penultimate-year undergraduate student or a current postgraduate student. Candidates must provide transcripts or enrollment letters confirming their educational track. For the Undergraduate Track, candidates should be enrolled in a four-year college degree program in finance, business, economics, or a related field, with a graduation date between December 2027 and September 2028.

Experience:
Candidates are encouraged to have demonstrated paid work experience, previous internships, or leadership roles in financial organizations or clubs. Experience with programming languages such as Python or specialized software for managing and visualizing economic and financial data is also beneficial. Strong research, analytical, and quantitative skills in data management are essential for success in this role.

Languages:
