Job Overview: The UNHCR Project SupportIntern (Data Analysis) position is designed for individuals seeking to gain practical experience in project management and administrative processes within the UN system. Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties, including analyzing data and creating dashboards using Business Intelligence Software such as PowerBI to support reporting and decision-making processes. They will assist in system development and process improvement initiatives, provide project management support, and help coordinate the formulation of strategies and programs. Additionally, the intern will support the section's presence on internal digital platforms like SharePoint, assist with onboarding and separation processes for colleagues, and manage resources necessary for project activities. Organizing team meetings, creating and editing presentations and reports, and providing day-to-day operational support will also be part of their responsibilities. The intern may be required to perform other duties as necessary to support the team's objectives.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, candidates must be either recent graduates who have completed their studies within the last two years or current students enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at an accredited institution. Candidates should have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a relevant field. It is important that applicants have not exhausted the maximum cumulative internship period with UNHCR, which is eight months for full-time and twelve months for part-time internships. Additionally, individuals with close familial relationships to current UNHCR staff members are not eligible for this internship.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to the work of UNHCR. While a completed university degree is not a requirement for internships, having a background in areas such as project management, data analysis, or administrative support will be advantageous. The educational institution must be accredited by IAU/UNESCO, and candidates should ensure their school is listed in the UNHCR Recruitment Portal when applying.
Experience: The internship is designed for individuals who may not have extensive professional experience but are eager to learn and develop their skills within the UN system. Additional Notes: This is a full-time internship position with working hours from 08:30 am to 05:00 pm, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. Interns who do not receive financial support from an external party will receive an allowance to help cover living expenses. UNHCR will reimburse travel costs for interns coming from outside the duty station, limited to the most economical route available. Internships typically last between two to six months, with the possibility of extension up to eight months for full-time internships and twelve months for part-time internships. Candidates are responsible for obtaining necessary visas and health insurance coverage, and must provide proof of good health from a qualified medical practitioner.
