Job Overview:
The Sr. Associate/Segment Coordinator role is pivotal in managing and executing key operational activities related to IDB Invest’s project portfolio. This position ensures the seamless processing of financial transactions within the loan management system, which includes supporting disbursements, billing schedules, collections of interest, principal, and associated fees, as well as other portfolio-servicing events across various financial products such as loans, guarantees, debt securities, and equity investments. The role also emphasizes the integrity of financial data, accurate operational reporting, and controls aligned with IDB Invest’s governance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and detail-oriented, combining strong transaction execution skills with analytical capacity and resource coordination. The position requires a disciplined approach to processes and the ability to support systems and implementation activities, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and service quality.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Sr. Associate/Segment Coordinator include coordinating resources and day-to-day operational activities for an assigned segment, ensuring timely delivery, quality control, and consistent application of operational procedures. Specific duties involve conducting data gathering, operational analysis, and reporting activities related to routine to moderately complex transactions, portfolio activities, operational projects, agreements, and process improvement initiatives. The role also includes supporting project origination and portfolio servicing by reviewing and registering relevant terms and conditions of financial products in the loan management system. Additionally, the Sr. Associate will review and validate more complex or sensitive transactions and operational outputs prepared by analysts or contractors, ensuring consistency with approved documentation, internal procedures, controls, and system requirements. The position requires setting up, enhancing, documenting, testing, and supporting the implementation of systems, workflows, controls, reports, and operational processes necessary for portfolio administration and transaction execution. Acting as a technical reference point for the assigned segment, the Sr. Associate will document recurring issues, reinforce standard operating procedures, support training, and share knowledge with analysts and contractor resources. Collaboration with peer functions and cross-functional teams is essential for operational readiness for new products or processes, issue resolution, data quality, continuous improvement, and implementation of approved changes.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a master’s degree or equivalent in finance, business administration, accounting, law, economics, or another relevant field. Additionally, at least 3 years of relevant experience in financial operations, loan administration, disbursements, billing, collections, portfolio servicing, back-office controls, systems implementation, operational analysis, or related functions in a financial institution or international organization is required. A solid understanding of financial products and operational processes related to loans, guarantees, debt securities, equity investments, investment funds, syndication, mobilization, and/or structured finance is also necessary. Candidates should be comfortable gathering and analyzing data, reviewing transaction documentation, translating terms into operational/system requirements, monitoring transactions, and identifying risks or exceptions that require escalation.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master’s degree or equivalent in finance, business administration, accounting, law, economics, or another relevant field. This advanced education is essential for understanding the complexities of financial operations and the regulatory environment in which IDB Invest operates.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in financial operations, loan administration, disbursements, billing, collections, portfolio servicing, back-office controls, systems implementation, operational analysis, or related functions within a financial institution or international organization. This experience is crucial for ensuring that the candidate is well-versed in the operational processes and challenges faced in the financial sector.

Languages:
Oral and written fluency in English and Spanish is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders across Latin America and the Caribbean, where IDB Invest operates.

The position is offered as an international staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
