Job Overview:
The Knowledge and Learning Division (KLD) at the IDB is tasked with providing clients with the necessary guidance and tools to effectively capture, generate, manage, and utilize knowledge. This division plays a crucial role in the planning, development, and measurement of knowledge and learning products and services. Within this framework, the Felipe Herrera Library Team is responsible for curating and maintaining the IDB’s extensive library collections, both digital and physical. The Knowledge and Learning Senior Associate will focus on Data Coordination and Knowledge Architecture, particularly in shaping and implementing a vision for knowledge graph architecture that connects various knowledge products and concepts. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, addressing knowledge management needs through comprehensive data models and project coordination across technical and business teams. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that operational and analytical knowledge is accessible and usable, thereby supporting the IDB’s goal of becoming a premier institution for knowledge production in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Knowledge and Learning Senior Associate will be responsible for several key functions, including:
  • Maintaining and evolving the IDB’s knowledge graph to enhance its role as a critical information architecture asset that supports AI processes and reporting needs.
  • Acting as the focal point for system and data interoperability to improve knowledge management processes within the KLD division.
  • Supervising data transformations and flows between various data sources and the knowledge graph, ensuring reliability and consistency.
  • Defining validation rules and documenting standards to assure the quality of data used across the knowledge management ecosystem.
  • Advising on the application of data and technological approaches to address knowledge management challenges.
  • Leveraging AI capabilities to improve efficiency and quality in knowledge management processes.
  • Coordinating with the Information Technology Department and external vendors to acquire technologies that support the knowledge management ecosystem.
  • Analyzing complex business processes and recommending solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in relevant fields such as Information Architecture, Data Science, Semantic Technologies, Knowledge Management, or related technical disciplines. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of demonstrated experience in knowledge graph architecture, semantic technologies, and data interoperability. Proficiency in Python and experience with graph databases and query languages are essential. Candidates should also have expertise in developing taxonomies, ontologies, and metadata schemas, as well as experience in managing structured and unstructured content.

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree in Information Architecture, Data Science, Semantic Technologies, Knowledge Management, Computer Science, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of knowledge management and data architecture.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in knowledge management, particularly in areas such as knowledge graph architecture, semantic technologies, and data interoperability. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing data transformations and working with various data sources.

Languages:
Proficiency in both Spanish and English, spoken and written, is mandatory for this role. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered a plus, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate within the diverse environment of the IDB.

Additional Notes:
The position is offered as an international staff contract for an initial duration of 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
