Job Overview: The Manager, Durable Conservation and Finance plays a crucial role in catalyzing long-term, sustainable financing for large-scale conservation areas. This position is part of the Program Development and Integration (PDI) unit within the Durable Conservation and Finance team. The primary responsibilities include managing the Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) pipeline, facilitating partnerships aligned with the Enduring Earth initiative, and ensuring the integration and success of the wider team. The Manager will work closely with internal and external experts in conservation finance and protected areas, aiming to deliver cross-cutting outcomes for the PDI portfolio. Success in this role requires collaboration across various teams and stakeholders to enhance opportunities and best practices throughout the PFP pipeline.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Manager will oversee the Viability and Feasibility phases of the PFP pipeline, coordinating closely with the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Senior Director of Durable Conservation and Finance. Responsibilities include managing teams involved in PFP pipeline development, advising staff and external partners on new opportunities, ensuring aligned messaging across WWF offices, and collaborating with various teams to enhance project phases. The Manager will also strategically advise on partnerships, define priority geographies for collaboration, coordinate with WWF Country Offices, and represent WWF at relevant meetings and workshops. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate initiative and accountability, showing the ability to make informed decisions and drive priorities forward. Critical thinking skills are essential for interpreting data and developing evidence-based recommendations. The ability to influence and adapt communication to diverse cultural backgrounds and levels of seniority is also crucial. Strong relationship-building skills, advocacy capabilities, and the ability to manage tasks across projects are required. Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as conservation science, international environmental or finance policy, conservation finance, or natural resource economics is required. An advanced degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise in the field.
Experience: The position requires 8-10 years of program or professional experience, particularly in areas related to protected and conserved areas, project finance for permanence, conservation finance, and natural resource economics. Experience with large-scale, complex, multi-stakeholder projects is preferred, as is familiarity with various actors in the nature finance sector. Candidates should have demonstrated abilities to work independently and manage complex tasks effectively.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred, with additional languages considered beneficial. The ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultures and audiences is essential for this role.
