Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position within the Political, Communication and Reporting Section (PCRS) of the OSCE Mission to Serbia is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for the selected candidate. The intern will gain firsthand exposure to the workings of an international organization, particularly in the context of political affairs and reporting. The role is intended to enhance the intern's understanding of the OSCE's operations while contributing to the mission's political and reporting activities. The internship will last for three months, with the possibility of extension for an additional three months, depending on performance and service requirements. The intern will be involved in various tasks that support the overall objectives of the PCRS, including assisting in the drafting and reviewing of reports and other written materials, conducting research, and liaising with field teams to ensure the accuracy of the mission's outputs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a range of tasks under the guidance of the Chief of Policy and Co-ordination and the Heads of the Political and Reporting Units. Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in drafting, reviewing, and proofreading various written products such as reports, correspondence, and media summaries.
  • Conducting fact-finding missions, research, and information verification to support the Office of the Head of Mission.
  • Developing and maintaining overviews of key reform initiatives and priority issues.
  • Liaising with field teams and programmatic departments to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of written products.
  • Drafting daily headline news reviews and providing backup for morning press briefings.
  • Supporting the preparation of field visits and meetings, including drafting meeting minutes.
  • Organizing and maintaining the Units’ archives and information management systems.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess citizenship of one of the OSCE participating States, excluding the sole citizenship of Serbia. Applicants should be under the age of 30 at the time of the application deadline. Previous experience in international organizations, governmental or civil society organizations, or political organizations is considered an asset. Strong analytical, research, and drafting skills are essential, along with political sensitivity and awareness of the national and regional context. Candidates should also be computer literate, with practical experience in Microsoft Office and video conferencing software.

Educational Background:
A university degree in political studies, law, international relations, development studies, journalism, communication, or similar fields is required. Alternatively, candidates who have completed at least two years of full-time studies in these areas from an accredited institution may also apply.

Experience:
While prior experience in an international organization or in diplomacy is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The internship is primarily aimed at providing learning opportunities for candidates who are at the beginning of their careers or who are seeking to gain experience in the field of political affairs and reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Serbian, Croatian, or Bosnian is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with local contexts and stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The internship is unpaid, and the OSCE is unable to provide any remuneration or reimburse travel expenses. However, interns without registered residence in Belgrade may receive a daily compensation of EUR 17.4 to assist with living costs. The OSCE will cover costs for any official travel undertaken during the internship. Interns must provide proof of health insurance valid in Serbia or join the OSCE group health insurance, for which they will be responsible for the premium. Participation in the internship program does not guarantee future employment with the OSCE.
