Job Overview: The IMPACCT Project Support & Information Management Officer will play a crucial role in providing technical support for the implementation of the humanitarian importation and customs preparedness workstream in Asia. This position involves leading information and knowledge management support for regional humanitarian logisticscoordination and contributing to supply chain capacity strengthening activities with ASEAN, the AHA Centre, and national partners. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that importation and customs preparedness aligns with national disaster management frameworks, thereby enhancing the efficiency of humanitarian responses in the Asia-Pacific region. The role requires strong coordination skills, technical documentation support, and the ability to manage information effectively to facilitate the smooth operation of humanitarian logistics.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordination & Logistics: Support the organization of Regional Humanitarian Importation and Customs (RHIC) Network meetings, assist with logistical arrangements for national workshops, and coordinate with various stakeholders including WFP Country Offices and regional partners for planning and reporting activities.
Technical & Documentation Support: Draft and review regional and national Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to humanitarian importation, create simulation exercise materials, and assist national working groups in mapping policies and procedures to streamline importation processes.
Information & Knowledge Management: Maintain organized filing systems and document repositories, develop knowledge products such as SOPs and training materials, produce information products for stakeholders, and support monitoring and reporting requirements.
Support to Inter-Agency Humanitarian Logistics Coordination: Facilitate information exchange across the Asia Pacific Humanitarian Logistics Working Group and provide technical support to workstreams as needed.
Support to ASEAN & AHA Centre Systems Strengthening: Assist in strengthening emergency supply chain systems and practices, and facilitate coordination with ASEAN entities to align preparedness activities with regional frameworks.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in international relations, supply chain/logistics, humanitarian studies, or a related field. They should have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in humanitarian coordination, logistics, customs/importation, or related technical fields. Strong writing and organizational skills are essential, along with fluency in English (spoken and written). Familiarity with the ASEAN context and regional coordination mechanisms is considered an asset.
Educational Background: A university degree in international relations, supply chain/logistics, humanitarian studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian logistics and the regulatory frameworks governing importation processes.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian coordination, logistics, customs/importation, or related technical fields. Candidates should have a strong academic background in international relations or humanitarian logistics, demonstrating their capability to navigate the challenges of humanitarian assistance and supply chain management.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, both spoken and written. While English is the primary language of communication, familiarity with additional languages relevant to the Asia-Pacific region may be advantageous but is not required.
Additional Notes: This position is remote-based with travel in Asia as needed and is contracted for a duration of 11 months. The contract type is CST level I, and the officer will report to the Regional Logistics Cluster Officer with functional reporting to the IMPACCT Coordinator.
