Job Overview:
The position of Individual Contractor in Trade Facilitation is integral to the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division (TIID) of ESCAP, which is currently implementing a project aimed at advancing trade digitalization in Asia. The contractor will provide essential administrative, logistical, and secretarial support for various meetings, workshops, and events related to this project. The role requires a proactive approach to managing communications, organizing information, and ensuring the smooth execution of project-related activities. The contractor will work under the supervision of the Director of TIID and will be responsible for drafting correspondence, preparing reports, and assisting in the development of a detailed roadmap for trade digitalization initiatives. This position is crucial for enhancing the efficiency of trade processes and reducing cross-border trade costs among OIC Asian countries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Contractor include: 1) Performing a wide range of office support and general administrative tasks, such as arranging meetings and events, making travel reservations, preparing budgets, and following up on post-event activities. 2) Providing secretarial, administrative, and logistical support for meetings, trainings, workshops, and conferences. 3) Responding to or drafting responses for routine correspondence and communications, utilizing standard word processing software to produce complex documents and reports. 4) Assisting in the preparation of mission reports, training needs assessments, and monitoring and evaluation reports. 5) Monitoring processes and schedules related to the section's outputs, ensuring compliance with legal and financial requirements. 6) Researching, compiling, and organizing information and reference materials for reports and meetings. 7) Proofreading documents for accuracy and adherence to established standards. 8) Performing other duties as assigned by the project manager.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, with a university degree being desirable. Candidates should have more than 2 years of work experience in administrative and/or secretariat roles, particularly in organizing both virtual and physical meetings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is mandatory, while competency in multimedia software and web tools is considered an asset. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates are expected to possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. A university degree in a relevant field is preferred, as it demonstrates a higher level of education and understanding of the complexities involved in trade facilitation and administrative support.

Experience:
The position requires more than 2 years of relevant work experience in administrative and secretariat functions. This experience should include organizing meetings and events, both virtual and in-person, and managing various administrative tasks effectively. Familiarity with the operations of international organizations, particularly in the context of trade and economic development, is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the United Nations. Proficiency in additional languages may be beneficial but is not mandatory for this role.
