Job Overview: The consultant will strengthen the capabilities of the Resident Coordinator's Office in data management, integration, and visualization through the development and implementation of sustainable information management tools. These tools will facilitate the analysis, monitoring, and reporting of integrated information regarding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development, and the UN INFO platform. The consultant will contribute to evidence-based decision-making, result tracking, and strategic planning for the Resident Coordinator's Office. Additionally, the consultant will ensure that the developed tools are properly documented and transferred to the OCR team to guarantee their use and sustainability over time.
Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Economist of the Resident Coordinator's Office, the candidate will carry out the following specific activities: • Provide technical support for the development and maintenance of management and information visualization tools for the UN System, such as dashboards and data repositories, using tools like Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, and Tableau. These visualization tools will include statistical and geographical information on the status of selected SDG indicators in Ecuador, programmatic interventions carried out by the United Nations System, and specific indicators for monitoring the activities of the Country Team (e.g., gender markers, youth, and persons with disabilities). • Ensure the integration of tools created during the consultancy with other existing tools and dashboards in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, and Tableau. • Assist in compiling and systematizing information required by the OCR for use in written reports, management tools, and data visualization platforms such as UN INFO. • Assist in identifying the needs of databases available in the OCR, their organization, and updates as required. • Contribute to the analysis of systems, design, development, testing, and implementation of software applications that allow for the execution of data visualization tools for the OCR, including backup generation and data recovery. • Train the OCR team in the management and updating of the information management and visualization tools developed as part of this consultancy. • Support the preparation of other activities related to the reporting processes of the OCR, as necessary.
Required Qualifications: A professional degree in the area of Computer Science, Engineering, Statistical Sciences, Social Sciences, or related fields is required. Knowledge in areas related to information management and data visualization is necessary. Experience of at least five (5) years in handling software for information management and related tools is required. Previous experience with the United Nations System in countries of the region or volunteer activities is necessary.
Educational Background: A professional degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistical Sciences, Social Sciences, or related fields is essential for this position. This educational background ensures that the candidate has the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to effectively develop and implement information management tools.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing information software and related tools. This level of experience is crucial as it ensures that the consultant has a solid understanding of the complexities involved in data management and visualization, particularly within the context of the United Nations System.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this consultancy, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in this language. Additionally, knowledge of English is desirable, which would enhance the consultant's ability to engage with international stakeholders and access a broader range of resources.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to be home-based and will last for a duration of three months.
