Job Overview:
The Asistente de Adquisiciones position is crucial for supporting the internal clients of WFP in Ecuador by ensuring timely procurement of goods and services necessary for the effective execution of WFP projects. The role involves working under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain Associate and the overall supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. The successful candidate will be expected to perform organized and precise work, manage procurement processes with minimal supervision, and guide less experienced users on standard practices. This position is part of WFP's strategic plan for 2023-2027, which aims to synergize with the Ecuadorian government's actions and strengthen capacities focused on four strategic objectives, including addressing food insecurity and enhancing the resilience of vulnerable communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Asistente de Adquisiciones include identifying suppliers and assisting them in registering in WFP's internal system, maintaining updated databases of suppliers through calls and document collection, preparing bidding documents according to the type of competition, and participating as a secretary in procurement panels or committees for award definitions. The role also involves using procurement portals and systems like SAP for purchase order registration, ensuring that procurement files are properly backed up, and supporting market studies for suppliers. The assistant will be responsible for monitoring compliance with quality and safety requirements for food suppliers and will carry out any other activities assigned by their supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a complete high school education, with preference given to those with higher education in Business Administration, International Trade, Economics, or related fields. A solid understanding of procurement processes and regulations is essential, along with the ability to work under pressure and manage high volumes of information with confidentiality and organization. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to produce high-quality documents and reports.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completed high school diploma, with additional qualifications in Business Administration, International Trade, Economics, or similar fields being highly valued. This educational foundation will support the candidate's ability to understand procurement processes and contribute effectively to the WFP's mission.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least four years of relevant experience in progressively responsible roles related to local and international procurement assistance. Experience in food procurement is a plus, as is familiarity with supplier identification, registration, evaluation, and market studies. Previous experience in procurement within the United Nations system or international organizations will be considered an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish, both oral and written, is mandatory, with preference given to candidates who can demonstrate intermediate proficiency in English. Knowledge of data collection and analysis platforms such as Kobo, ODK, or Power BI is desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to manage procurement data effectively.

This position is offered under a Service Contract for a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. The role is full-time and based in Quito, Ecuador.
