Job Overview: The position of Consultant to support the Department of Climate Change (DCC) at UN Women involves providing technical and coordination support for the organization of the Viet Nam Pavilion at the upcoming COP31 climate conference. The consultant will work closely with the DCC Secretariat, relevant ministries, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to ensure that gender equality and social inclusion considerations are integrated into the Pavilion's programming and events. The role requires the consultant to assist in finalizing the Pavilion's program, coordinating a dedicated side event focused on gender-responsive climate action, and producing high-quality materials that highlight women's contributions to climate resilience and sustainable development. The consultant will report to the Programme Analyst for Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction and will be responsible for ensuring effective collaboration among various stakeholders involved in the Pavilion's activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake several key responsibilities, including: 1) Supporting the DCC in finalizing the Pavilion's program, particularly the gender-responsive side event, by coordinating with relevant ministries and development partners; 2) Assisting in the organization of the side event titled 'Gender-Responsive Climate Action: Advancing Women's Leadership in Viet Nam's Green Transition,' which includes preparing concept notes, presentations, and communication materials; 3) Coordinating logistics, content, speakers, and moderators for confirmed events; 4) Providing on-site coordination support during COP31; 5) Reviewing proposed events to ensure gender-responsive and inclusive content; 6) Consolidating post-event reporting and preparing a final summary report on the Pavilion's organization and outcomes. The consultant will also be involved in three main tasks: Inception and Coordination Support, Hybrid Coordination Support during COP31, and Post-Pavilion Summary Report preparation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must hold a Master's degree in gender studies, development studies, communications, environmental/climate change studies, public policy, or a related field. They should have at least seven years of professional experience in gender and climate change programming, communications, or event coordination. Demonstrated experience in producing knowledge and communications products related to gender and climate change is essential, as is experience coordinating side events or conferences, preferably in the context of UNFCCC COP or similar international events. Familiarity with Vietnam's gender equality and climate change policy frameworks and principles of gender equality and social inclusion is advantageous. Candidates should also have experience working with government agencies and international development partners.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field such as gender studies, development studies, communications, environmental or climate change studies, or public policy is required for this position.
