Job Overview:
The Risk Officer position at WFP is crucial for supporting the Country Office in enhancing risk management activities. The role involves embedding risk management into planning and decision-making processes, ensuring compliance with policies, and maintaining updated risk registers. The officer will work closely with the Deputy Country Director, Enabling Services, and will be responsible for analyzing risk performance, conducting risk assessments, and supporting the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to risk management. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies, as well as contributing to reports and proposals for donor risk-sharing and resource mobilization. The Risk Officer will also play a key role in promoting WFP's Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption policies and ensuring adherence to compliance standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Risk Officer will have a variety of key accountabilities, including:

• Supporting the integration of risk management into the planning and decision-making processes across the office.
• Regularly updating risk registers and tracking progress on risk mitigation actions.
• Collecting feedback and data on risk performance and suggesting new implementation approaches.
• Conducting spot checks of cooperating partners in line with established procedures.
• Assisting managers with regular and ad hoc risk assessments to identify and evaluate risks.
• Utilizing risk management tools to analyze risk activities and exposures.
• Providing risk analysis for donor risk-sharing and resource mobilization.
• Participating in the development of SOPs for managing risk and accountability.
• Preparing comprehensive reports on compliance with internal controls and highlighting areas of risk vulnerability. 1
• Leading the establishment and review of the Risk Register and facilitating related workshops. 1
• Assisting in preparations for Internal and External Audits. 1
• Supporting the promotion of WFP's Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption policies and conducting fraud risk assessments. 1
• Engaging in Business Continuity Management and Organizational Conflicts of Interest matters as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in business/public administration, finance, accounting, international development, audit, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree combined with additional relevant work experience and/or training in audit, performance, and risk management is acceptable. The role requires familiarity with WFP’s results framework and planning processes, as well as experience in incident management, monitoring, and reporting activities. Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with effective communication and writing abilities.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for the Risk Officer position include an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as business, public administration, finance, accounting, international development, or audit. A first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and training in related fields is also acceptable. Candidates should have a solid understanding of risk management principles and practices, as well as familiarity with WFP's operational frameworks.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of progressively responsible experience in planning activities or related fields. Candidates should have experience in risk management activities, including risk analysis and the development of mitigation strategies. Experience in program or project management is also desirable, along with a proven track record of effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in Myanmar and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as a Fixed Term contract at the NO-A grade level, with a duration of 12 months.
