Job Overview:
The position of Head of Confidentiality and Due Diligence Desk is crucial within INTERPOL's Office of Internal Oversight. The role involves leading the Confidentiality Desk, which is responsible for overseeing the vetting procedures for incoming staff, conducting due diligence on potential partners, and managing the workflow of confidential information within the organization. The post holder will ensure that confidentiality protocols are adhered to and will be the primary point of contact for confidentiality issues. This role requires a strategic mindset to develop and implement policies that align with INTERPOL's confidentiality regime, ensuring that the organization meets the highest standards of information security and confidentiality management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leadership of the Confidentiality Desk: Oversee daily operations, provide functional and operational leadership, and collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer to define the INTERPOL Confidentiality Regime. Develop strategic plans and budgets for the desk, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Define the Confidentiality Regime: Act as the internal contact for confidentiality issues, manage security vetting and access rights, and ensure compliance with regulations and best practices. Validate risk assessments and liaise with various internal departments to establish the confidentiality framework.
  • Oversee Implementation: Define standard operating procedures for the Confidentiality Desk, supervise the vetting process, and conduct compliance audits. Ensure that confidentiality protocols are followed and provide feedback on contentious cases.
  • Training and Capacity Building: Design and conduct training related to the Confidentiality Regime, prepare informational materials, and represent INTERPOL in external communications regarding confidentiality matters. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the desk.
  • Perform Other Duties: Carry out additional responsibilities as required by the hierarchy, ensuring alignment with the current grade and organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent, preferably in a related discipline such as information security. Relevant professional qualifications or training in information management, Client Due Diligence (CDD), Know Your Customer (KYC) risk, security vetting, ethics, governance, and oversight are essential. Desirable accreditations include ACFE, CIA, QIAL, CRMA, and CISA.

Educational Background:
A university degree in a relevant field is required, with a preference for disciplines related to information security, governance, or risk management. Additional professional qualifications in areas such as information management, security vetting, and client due diligence are highly valued.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in a security domain, with 5-10 years of management experience in an international environment. Proven leadership skills in managing a team of specialists and experience in developing and implementing confidentiality regimes or similar functions are essential. Previous exposure to international bodies, government, or police sectors is desirable, along with experience in oversight, risk, or operational evaluation functions.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. A working knowledge of a second official working language of the Organization, such as French, Arabic, or Spanish, would be an asset, enhancing communication capabilities within the international context of INTERPOL's operations.
