Job Overview:
The position of SECONDMENT - Director - Innovation Centre is crucial for INTERPOL's Executive Directorate for Capacity Building and Innovation (EDCI). This role involves providing strategic direction on the adoption of transformative technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), and fostering partnerships through the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore. The Director will oversee pilot projects, develop frameworks for ethical tech integration, and lead global capacity building and police training strategies. The Innovation Centre serves as a strategic nexus for INTERPOL, empowering member countries through innovation and partnerships, and addressing evolving law enforcement challenges. The Director will be responsible for facilitating the sharing of innovations among member countries and stakeholders, ensuring that INTERPOL remains at the forefront of law enforcement innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Management of Directorate: Act as principal advisor to the Secretary General and Executive Director for Capacity Building and Innovation, organizing activities and flagship events to support innovation in policing. Develop the Directorate as a global reference point for innovation in policing and promote an innovative culture across the Organization.
  • Leveraging Innovation: Monitor key deliverables aligned with INTERPOL's Strategic Framework, coordinate innovation-related projects, and support member countries in applying innovative practices, including AI.
  • Continuous Support for Innovation: Lead and enhance the delivery of sub-directorates, oversee pilot initiatives with operational units, and build strategic partnerships with academia, private sector, and civil society to co-develop solutions for global law enforcement. Perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (Masters) in a relevant domain. They should have profound expertise in international police cooperation, strategy, and innovation at an executive management level within a law enforcement environment. Extensive knowledge of innovation processes is essential, along with 10 to 15 years of successful managerial experience and leadership in international cooperation or innovation. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple complex tasks, lead teams effectively, and communicate tactfully with diverse users.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be complemented by extensive knowledge and experience in international police cooperation and innovation.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 10 to 15 years of managerial experience in international cooperation or innovation within a law enforcement context. They must demonstrate a proven track record of leadership, the ability to manage complex tasks, and experience in change management.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in at least one other official working language of the Organization (Arabic, French, Spanish) is desirable. Additional fluency in other languages would be considered an asset.

The position is a secondment for a duration of 36 months.
