Job Overview: The Technical Assistance and Capacity BuildingIntern will play a crucial role in supporting the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People (HAC for N&P), an intergovernmental group comprising over 100 countries. The intern will assist in integrating equity into the work of the coalition, supporting senior program officers in providing technical assistance and capacity building to member countries. The intern will be responsible for monitoring grant activities, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and facilitating the organization of webinars, trainings, and technical events related to biodiversity conservation and environmental policy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include supporting the follow-up of Rapid Deployment Mechanism (RDM) grantees, which encompasses monitoring grant activities and reporting, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements, and assisting in the matchmaking of requests from HAC for N&P members. The intern will also support the organization and delivery of webinars, trainings, and technical events for the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) COP 1
Additionally, the intern will contribute to the production of various reports and communication materials, including the Target 3 Regional Workshops Report, HAC 2026 survey report, and the tracking and systematization of data for future reference. The intern will report directly to the Senior Program Officer for Technical Assistance and Capacity Building.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in biodiversity conservation, environmental studies, international relations, or a related discipline. Strong analytical skills and exposure to environmental policy are essential. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Suite and SharePoint is required, along with effective time management skills to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team and with individuals from diverse backgrounds are also necessary. Proficiency in additional languages is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be pursuing or have completed a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as biodiversity conservation, environmental studies, or international relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of environmental policy and the specific challenges faced by the HAC for N&P.

Additional Notes: This internship is a part-time position requiring 20 hours of work per week over a duration of 6 months. The internship is hybrid, with a requirement to work in the Washington DC office at least 4 days per month. Compensation for the internship is set at $20/hour for undergraduates, $22/hour for graduates, and $24/hour for PhD students.
