Job Overview:
The WWF Project Coordinator for Habitat Improvement will play a crucial role in enhancing the habitat for wild Asian elephants and other species in Thailand. This position involves a combination of technical assistance, community outreach, and administrative support. The coordinator will be responsible for planning and implementing strategies to improve habitats, monitor wildlife presence, and facilitate coexistence between local communities and wildlife. The role requires strong networking skills to maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and NGOs. The coordinator will also be tasked with preparing reports and documentation to meet donor requirements and support project activities. This position is vital for driving conservation efforts and ensuring the sustainability of critical habitats in Thailand.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Technical Assistance: - Plan and implement habitat improvement initiatives for wild Asian elephants and other species. - Monitor the presence and usage of grasslands by wild elephants and other wildlife. - Report on interactions between wild elephants and local communities to minimize conflicts. - Conduct outreach and awareness programs in communities and schools regarding wild elephant conservation and coexistence strategies.
  • Networking and Relationship Building: - Support the Senior Project Manager and Project Manager in maintaining regular communication with local communities, stakeholders, and government agencies. - Collaborate with academic institutions, civil society organizations, and international NGOs involved in conservation efforts.
  • Financial Management: - Prepare cash advances and travel expense claims related to project activities.
  • Administrative Functions: - Report on project activities according to donor requirements and the monitoring and evaluation plan. - Assist in organizing workshops, events, meetings, and training sessions, including the preparation of necessary documents and equipment. - Maintain an organized database of technical reports and visual information related to the project. - Assist team members with additional tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in natural resource management, conservation, environmental science, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in wildlife monitoring, habitat management, and community outreach is required. Familiarity with the environmental conservation landscape in Thailand is preferred, along with the ability to work in forested or remote areas. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency in database management and reporting.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as natural resource management, conservation, or environmental science. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of habitat improvement and wildlife conservation efforts.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in wildlife monitoring, habitat management, and community outreach. Candidates with substantial work experience in Thailand will be given preference, as familiarity with local conservation challenges and stakeholders is vital for the success of the project.

Languages:
Fluency in Thai is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for effective communication with local communities and stakeholders. Competence in English is strongly preferred, as it will facilitate communication with international partners and the preparation of reports and documentation.
