Job Overview:
The Solutions Architect position is a critical role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU) of the World Bank. The mission of the ITS VPU is to leverage information and technology to accelerate and sustain development impact, with a vision of harnessing these tools for a world free of poverty. The Solutions Architect will be responsible for defining and overseeing the technical architecture for digital solutions that support country teams, particularly focusing on the Country Partnership Framework (CPF) and Country Policy and Institutional Assessment (CPIA) platforms. These platforms are essential for country engagement, strategy development, and operational assessment processes, necessitating secure, scalable, maintainable, and well-integrated technology solutions. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including country teams, product owners, and IT delivery teams, to ensure that solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and the World Bank Group’s strategic priorities. The Solutions Architect will translate business needs into sustainable technical designs and provide architectural leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality digital products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Solutions Architect will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: defining solution architecture, integration patterns, and both low- and high-level designs for CPF, CPIA, and related ITSCE Country Solutions products; partnering with product owners and country teams to translate business priorities into feasible solution options; assessing trade-offs, dependencies, risks, and total cost of ownership to support secure and sustainable technology solutions; collaborating with platform, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards; preparing architecture diagrams, technical presentations, and decision records; providing technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, including design reviews and mentoring engineering teams; promoting best practices in reuse, standardization, interoperability, and security; and supporting Agile and SAFe delivery practices by participating in planning and design discussions.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in business, STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), computer science, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant solution architecture, software engineering, or related experience is acceptable. Strong expertise in solution architecture across various domains, including enterprise architecture, distributed systems, integration design, and security, is essential. Hands-on experience with technologies such as .NET/C#, ASP.NET Core, JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, Python, and Azure services is required. Candidates should also have a practical understanding of enterprise security, data protection, and operational support, along with strong communication and presentation skills.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree in business, STEM fields, computer science, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is acceptable if accompanied by extensive relevant experience. The emphasis is on candidates who have a solid foundation in technical and analytical skills, particularly in areas related to information technology and solution architecture.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience for candidates with a Master's degree, or seven years for those with a Bachelor's degree. This experience should encompass solution architecture, software engineering, or related fields, with a strong emphasis on designing and developing IT solutions. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of overseeing complex technical initiatives and delivering high-quality digital products.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. While no additional languages are specified as preferred, the ability to communicate effectively in English is crucial for collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
