Job Overview: The position of Consultant in Policies and Strategies for the Transformation of Education is focused on supporting the UNESCO Office in Mexico in the project titled 'Transforming Higher Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Vision for 2030 and Beyond.' This project aims to technically assist the Undersecretariat of Higher Education of the Ministry of Public Education in constructing a national and regional vision regarding the transformations required for inclusive, equitable, and quality higher education in the coming decades. The consultant will be responsible for planning and developing key actions of the project, considering ethical, educational, and programmatic approaches that UNESCO promotes regarding the right to education and particularly Sustainable Development Goal
The consultant will contribute to building a systematic vision of the transformations needed in higher education to address challenges such as sustainable development, climate change, shared prosperity, peacebuilding, demographic transitions, new economic blocks, and the expansion of digital technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
Developing a foundational document that outlines the conceptual foundations, objectives, methodology, activities, products, and work schedule for the project.
Planning and coordinating the organization of a national high-level forum, including drafting the conceptual note for the event and overseeing its activities.
Systematizing contributions from participants at the high-level forum and preparing a report on the event.
Establishing methodology and instruments for reflecting on the comprehensive transformation of Mexican higher education in light of the challenges posed by 2030 and beyond.
Engaging in other activities as determined by the project coordination. Expected deliverables include a foundational document, a conceptual note for the forum, a digital report of the forum, and a methodology document for the reflection on higher education transformation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a postgraduate degree (Master’s Degree) in fields such as pedagogy, educational sciences, educational technology, social anthropology, or social sciences. They should have at least five years of experience in higher education projects and a comprehensive understanding of the challenges posed by digital technologies and the use of AI in higher education. Familiarity with UNESCO's global education guidelines and approaches, as well as experience in quantitative and qualitative data research and systematization, is essential. Proficiency in digital tools for research and communication is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s Degree in relevant fields such as pedagogy, educational sciences, technology in education, social anthropology, or social sciences. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of educational transformation and the integration of technology in educational settings.
