Job Overview:
The Finance Manager position is crucial for leading the finance teams within HI, ensuring compliance with both HI’s internal standards and local regulations in the finance sector. The role encompasses the development and implementation of financial strategies, operational financial management, and oversight of financial compliance. The Finance Manager will be responsible for assessing financial risks, reporting incidents, and managing external representation activities related to financial matters. This position is particularly important as HI scales up its response to the ongoing crisis in Sudan, where the organization is actively involved in providing humanitarian assistance and rehabilitation services. The Finance Manager will play a key role in ensuring that financial resources are managed effectively and transparently, contributing to the overall success of HI's mission in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Manager will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: contributing to the drafting and implementation of the financial section of the Operational Strategy; overseeing the breakdown of financial strategies into actionable plans; producing and analyzing financial indicators; managing financial risks and disputes; ensuring compliance with HI’s financial policies and local legal frameworks; directing the financial management of institutional funding; supervising budget drafting and ensuring optimal use of funds; managing accounts and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting; coordinating responses to internal and external audits; overseeing cash-flow management; and leading emergency preparedness actions within the finance department. The Finance Manager will also be responsible for fostering a team spirit, developing local talent, and ensuring continuity of service within the finance team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of professional experience in the finance domain, with a minimum of 3 years in managing large multi-sectorial grants. Strong team management and organizational skills are essential, along with a high level of autonomy and initiative. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, as well as proficiency in computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. The ability to work under high pressure and a high level of motivation and proactivity are also required. Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory, while Arabic language skills are considered a strong asset. Experience in capacity building of local staff and department restructuring will be viewed favorably.

Educational Background:

Additional Notes:
The position is for a 6-month international contract, starting in early September 2026, based in Khartoum, Sudan. The contract is renewable based on funding availability. The role is unaccompanied, and housing will be collectively provided by HI. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from 2869€, a net monthly per diem of 706€, and a hardship allowance of 500€ net per month. Employees are entitled to 25 days of paid leave per year and 5 days of rest and recuperation every 8 weeks. The international contract also provides social coverage, including unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution.
