Job Overview: As an Investment Officer at ADB, you will play a crucial role in the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD), specifically within the Social Sectors Team (SST). Your primary responsibility will be to provide technical support and coordination in the processing of ADB's private sector investments, focusing on the health and education sectors. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying, developing, and processing financing opportunities, ensuring that projects align with ADB's developmental goals. You will engage in due diligence, risk analysis, and financial structuring, contributing to the overall success of ADB's investment initiatives. Your role will also involve collaboration with various stakeholders to develop policies and strategies that enhance ADB's impact in the private sector, particularly in health and education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Processing: Assist in identifying, developing, and processing financing opportunities in the health and education sectors. Conduct due diligence, risk analysis, and mitigation work to structure and negotiate loans, equity investments, guarantees, or other financial assistance. Develop financial models and assess the risk and credit profile of proposed investments. Review financial statements and projections, perform sensitivity analysis and stress testing, and provide recommendations. Participate in due diligence missions, providing technical support and recommendations to project team leaders. Conduct industry and country research for transaction risk assessment and prepare internal Investment Committee and Board memoranda, summaries, and risk assessment analyses. Engage with the Office of Risk Management and Safeguards Specialists to address credit-related and environmental and social safeguards issues. Maintain comprehensive credit files related to transactions under processing.
Strategy and Planning: Contribute to the development of policies and strategies for ADB's developmental goals in the private sector, consulting with stakeholders and assisting in developing a pipeline of projects in health and education.
Others: Perform additional duties as assigned in the workplan.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, you must possess a Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, business administration, or a related field, preferably with advanced training. You should have at least 8 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, investment banking, or private equity, with a focus on transactions in the health and/or education sectors. Experience in COVID-19 related healthcare financing is a plus. You must demonstrate strong research and analytical skills, the ability to organize and analyze data, and effective report-writing and communication skills in English. Familiarity with Bloomberg databases for financial research is also required. You should be capable of guiding Technical Local Staff and working collaboratively as a constructive team member.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, business administration, or a related field is required. Advanced training in these areas is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of complex financial concepts and practices relevant to the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, investment banking, or private equity. This experience should ideally include working on transactions specifically in the health and education sectors, demonstrating a strong understanding of the financial landscape and investment strategies within these fields. Experience related to COVID-19 healthcare financing will be considered an advantage, showcasing the candidate's adaptability and relevance in current market conditions.

Additional Notes: This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension for up to 2 years or conversion to a regular appointment based on performance and organizational needs.
