Job Overview:
The Project Assistant – Health will work under the overall supervision of the coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Medical Coordinator and direct supervision of the National Migration Health Project Officer. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in the implementation of health assistance projects aimed at supporting migrants, particularly the most vulnerable categories such as victims of trafficking, children, and other vulnerable migrants. The role involves compiling and maintaining records, tracking project timelines against work plans, and preparing progress reports. The Project Assistant will also be responsible for retrieving, compiling, summarizing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics, monitoring budgets, supporting administrative coordination, drafting various reports and correspondence, organizing meetings and training sessions, and responding to general inquiries. This position requires a proactive approach to ensure the effective delivery of health assistance projects and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse organizational units and external parties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the implementation of health projects’ activities by compiling and maintaining records, tracking project timelines against work plans, and preparing progress reports focused on health assistance provision to vulnerable categories.
  • Retrieve, compile, summarize, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  • Monitor budget by verifying availability of funds, obtaining necessary approvals, and updating budget-related information.
  • Support administrative coordination of health projects’ implementation, involving liaison with diverse organizational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process, and follow-up on administrative actions.
  • Draft status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of the supervisor.
  • Draft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations, and other forms of documentation.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Respond to general information requests and inquiries.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience; or a High School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking, and other vulnerable groups is essential. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous. Experience in organizing events such as training, workshops, and awareness-raising campaigns, as well as producing related documentation, is also required. Knowledge of humanitarian medical assistance, healthcare, financial and administrative management, and experience in IOM administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management, and internal control procedures are considered advantages. Proficiency in office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis are also necessary.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Alternatively, candidates with a High School diploma may qualify if they have four years of relevant professional experience. It is important that the educational qualifications are from accredited institutions recognized by the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have at least two years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or four years if they have a High School diploma. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Experience working with vulnerable groups, including migrants and refugees, is essential. Additionally, prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous. Experience in organizing events and producing documentation related to such events is also required.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position, both oral and written. Proficiency in these languages will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. All IOM staff members are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages, which include English, French, and Spanish.
