Job Overview: The Library Associate position is a vital role within the IAEA's Nuclear Information Section, which is responsible for managing and disseminating scientific and technical information related to nuclear science and technology. The Library Associate will work under the supervision of the Library Coordinator and will be tasked with performing descriptive cataloguing and metadata creation for both digital and physical information resources. This role is essential for ensuring that the library collections are organized according to international standards, thereby facilitating access to information for library users. The Library Associate will also provide information services and support to the Library Team, ensuring that the Library Management System (LMS) is utilized effectively to enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Library Associate will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and enhancing bibliographic, authority, and metadata records for various library resources. This includes reviewing and updating existing metadata records to ensure accuracy and compliance with evolving standards. The role involves assigning classification numbers and subject headings, preparing item identification processes, and providing information services at the information desk. Additionally, the Library Associate will support metadata governance and quality assurance activities, contribute to the configuration and optimization of the LMS, and perform automation of routine tasks to improve operational efficiency. Other library-related tasks may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary education, and a university degree (bachelor) in any field is considered an asset. Formal training in library work and cataloguing is also advantageous. The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant working experience, with at least five years specifically related to cataloguing and metadata in a library environment. Experience in an international setting is beneficial, and familiarity with cataloguing standards such as MARC 21, AACR2, RDA, LCSH, and UDC is required. Knowledge of BIBFRAME and RDF is a plus. Proficiency in MS Office 365 is necessary, along with a strong command of English and knowledge of other official IAEA languages being an asset.

Additional Notes: The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 68,788, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
