Job Overview:
The UNEP FI Climate Adaptation and Resilience Internship offers a unique opportunity for individuals interested in the intersection of climate change and finance. The intern will work closely with the UNEP FI Climate team, specifically focusing on the Climate Adaptation and Resilience (A&R) programme. This programme aims to enhance the understanding of climate-related risks and opportunities within the financial sector, helping institutions to develop strategies that contribute to a more resilient future. The intern will engage in various tasks that support the implementation of flagship programmes, including the Principles for Responsible Banking Climate Journey and the Investors Resilience Challenge. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about sustainability and eager to contribute to the development of innovative solutions in the finance sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities that include:

• Research and Technical Support: Conducting in-depth research and analysis on climate adaptation and resilience finance topics, assisting in the drafting and editing of publications, and synthesizing literature and case studies to support programme development.
• Coordination and Event Support: Assisting in the coordination of UNEP FI adaptation programmes, organizing webinars and workshops, and preparing meeting materials.
• Communications and Outreach: Leading the drafting of monthly newsletters for the Adaptation Community of Practice, supporting stakeholder mapping and outreach activities, and maintaining stakeholder databases.
• Products and Project Delivery: Contributing to the development of training materials, supporting resource mobilization efforts, and undertaking special projects aligned with programme priorities. The intern's daily responsibilities may vary based on their background and the internship period.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school programme, be in the final academic year of a first university degree program, or have graduated with a university degree within the last year. A field of study closely related to the internship is required, and applicants must demonstrate how they meet this criterion. Academic backgrounds in economics, social sciences, natural sciences, environmental science, public policy, sustainable development, international relations, business administration, finance, or related fields are preferred.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a strong academic background, either currently enrolled in or having completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. programme in a relevant field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of climate finance and adaptation strategies.

Experience:
While professional work experience is not required for this internship, candidates should possess relevant academic knowledge and skills that align with the responsibilities of the position. Previous internships or volunteer experiences in related fields may be beneficial but are not mandatory.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French, another UN language, is desirable and would enhance the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the organization.
