Job Overview:
The Social and Environmental Senior Analyst position at UNOPS is a mid-level role that plays a crucial part in the Private Sector Resilience Program (PSRP) in Afghanistan. This role involves ensuring that project activities comply with the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP), Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), and Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP). The analyst will work closely with the Deputy Programme Manager and will be responsible for monitoring and supervising project areas, contributing to the development and implementation of social standards and risk mitigation measures. The position requires a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and the ability to analyze and adapt to evolving project needs, ensuring that social and environmental considerations are integrated throughout the project lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Social and Environmental Senior Analyst will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including:

• Analyzing and developing the project’s E&S management system in alignment with the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework.
• Advising on the integration of social standards and risk mitigation measures into project activities.
• Leading the implementation of E&S related instruments, including Labor Management Procedures and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-risk-management" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Risk Management Plans.
• Training implementing partners and contractors on E&S risk management procedures.
• Planning and facilitating stakeholder consultations, ensuring proactive engagement with project stakeholders.
• Monitoring compliance with E&S requirements and preparing reports for the World Bank and other stakeholders.
• Managing the Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to ensure timely responses to grievances and addressing concerns raised by affected communities.
• Leading training sessions on social standards and sharing best practices to build capacity among project personnel and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's) in Social Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Development Studies, Community Development, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in the aforementioned areas, combined with two additional years of relevant experience, may be accepted. Knowledge of UN systems and the World Bank’s Environmental and Social Framework is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master's) is required, preferably in fields related to social sciences or development studies. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional experience. Candidates should have a strong understanding of social risk management and sustainability principles, particularly in the context of international development.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of professional experience in social risk management and sustainability or social development fields is required for candidates with a Master's degree. For those with a first-level university degree, four years of relevant experience is necessary. Experience with the World Bank, UN agencies, or other donor organizations is highly valued, as is familiarity with grant programs and stakeholder engagement processes.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.

This position is classified as a mid-level role under the ICA - LICA - Specialist - Regular contract type. The contract is ongoing and subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance.
