Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide treatment to patients with common and severe psychiatric disorders, considering cultural contexts.
Train and supervise national and international medical staff (doctors and nurses) in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders according to MSF guidelines.
Participate in mental health team interventions, offering supervision and support to national psychologists and counselors.
Ensure that MSF's standard medication guidelines for psychotropic treatments are available and followed.
Collect necessary information for treatment and follow-up to ensure quality care delivery.
Assess the availability and quality of psychiatric services in the intervention country, including hospitalization options.
Establish links with the Ministry of Health (MoH) to explore the viability of psychiatric treatment.
Collaborate with other medical specialists involved in the project to develop a multidisciplinary approach to care.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess a medical degree in psychiatry and have a valid medical license to practice. Additionally, candidates should have experience in mental health care, particularly in humanitarian settings. Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are essential. Knowledge of MSF's guidelines and protocols is an advantage.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed a medical degree with a specialization in psychiatry. Additional training or certifications in mental health care, particularly in crisis situations or humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in psychiatry, preferably in a humanitarian or emergency context.
