Job Overview:
The Photographer position is situated within the Communication and Media Relations Section (CMRS) of the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) of ECA. The incumbent will provide specialized photography services that support the organization's communication, documentation, and visibility objectives. This role requires the ability to independently plan and execute photographic assignments, produce high-quality digital visual content, and ensure proper processing, captioning, and archiving of images. The photographer will be responsible for capturing significant events, ensuring that the visual content aligns with the organization's branding and communication strategies. The position demands creativity, technical proficiency in photography, and the ability to work under tight deadlines and changing conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will independently plan and execute photographic coverage of conferences, high-level meetings, and official events, often under tight timelines. They will apply advanced photographic techniques to capture high-quality images, ensuring optimal composition and lighting. The photographer will exercise judgment in selecting angles and moments for comprehensive coverage, coordinating with event focal points to adapt to evolving dynamics. Additionally, they will edit and process digital images using specialized software, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and producing curated selections of images for various platforms. The role also involves preparing accurate captions, managing digital image records, and maintaining an organized visual archive. The photographer will be responsible for maintaining photographic equipment and providing technical support as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with a diploma in Business Administration, still photography, communications, journalism, arts, media, or related fields being an advantage. A minimum of 7 years of experience in providing professional photographic services is required, along with familiarity with the latest photography technologies, including cameras and editing software. Experience in independently shooting, captioning, and posting professional photos on social media platforms is desirable. Knowledge of the United Nations structure and rules of procedure is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory for this position. A diploma in relevant fields such as Business Administration, still photography, communications, journalism, arts, or media is considered an advantage and may enhance a candidate's application.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in photography. Candidates should have a proven track record of providing high-quality photographic services, demonstrating proficiency with modern photography technologies and editing software. Experience in managing social media platforms and posting professional images is also desirable, indicating a well-rounded skill set in visual communication.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in either English or French is required, with a minimum level of proficiency as outlined in the UN Language Framework. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to read, write, listen, and speak effectively in the chosen language, ensuring clear communication within the organization.
