Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer (Japan Engagement Consultant) will play a crucial role in enhancing WFP's engagement with Japan, one of its key global partners. This position focuses on supporting donor relations, developing partnership opportunities, and facilitating communication and visibility initiatives with various Japanese stakeholders, including the Embassy of Japan, WFP Tokyo Office, and Japanese NGOs. The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Head of the Partnerships, Communications, and Reports Unit, contributing to the implementation of WFP's Country Strategic Plan in the Philippines. The role requires a professional who is motivated by purpose and partnership-building, with the opportunity to create meaningful impact at scale. The consultant will be responsible for conducting marketing research to identify partnership opportunities, managing corporate dialogue with Japanese organizations, and supporting the preparation of events that advance WFP's interests. This position is open to foreign nationals, with a preference for candidates based in the Philippines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnerships Officer will undertake various responsibilities, including conducting marketing research and scoping exercises to identify partnership and resource mobilization opportunities for WFP. The consultant will manage the liaison and corporate dialogue between Japanese organizations and WFP, highlighting strategic opportunities and nurturing trust in WFP's work. Establishing new partnerships with Japanese organizations, particularly in the private sector, will be a key focus. The consultant will also be responsible for translating press releases, media advisories, and social media posts into Japanese, as well as developing and quality assuring funding proposals. Additionally, the consultant will prepare for events involving foreign dignitaries and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring that WFP's interests and objectives are advanced. Expected deliverables include stakeholder mapping, research reports, briefing notes, funding proposals, and partnership tracking reports.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess demonstrated experience in partnership development, donor engagement, resource mobilization, and private sector outreach, preferably within an international organization or development agency. A strong understanding of government and corporate priorities, stakeholder management, and multi-stakeholder partnership development is essential. Proven experience in communications, proposal development, and donor visibility initiatives is required, along with the ability to leverage digital tools for partnership development. Familiarity with UN/WFP policies and procedures is highly desirable, as is prior experience working with international organizations.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant professional experience and/or specialized training may be accepted.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required for candidates with an advanced university degree, or five years for those with a first university degree. Experience in partnership development, private sector engagement, and stakeholder engagement is essential, particularly within an international organization or development agency. Familiarity with the Japanese business community and communication approaches is highly desirable.

Languages:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Japanese are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy position is classified as When Actually Employed (WAE) and is expected to last for 65 working days over a period of 11 months. The monthly salary starts from approximately US$ 189.00 per day, and medical coverage is provided, extendable to eligible dependents. The position is open to foreign nationals, but candidates based in the Philippines are preferred.
