Job Overview:
The UNEP Intern for Sustainable Finance Mobilization will be based at UNEP's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand. This internship is designed to support UNEP's efforts in redirecting public finance towards climate, nature, and pollution actions. The intern will work under the supervision of the Regional Director and the Regional Coordinator for Finance and Economic Transformations. The role involves conducting research on sustainable finance trends, engaging with Finance Ministries, and supporting the organization of webinars related to sustainable finance taxonomies. The intern will gain valuable experience in the field of sustainable finance and contribute to UNEP's mission of promoting environmental sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: 1) Supporting UNEP's work in the region by researching sustainable finance and investment trends for priority countries, engaging with Finance Ministries, and assessing risks from nature impacts on investments. 2) Assisting UNEP Finance Initiative (FI) by creating a database of Central Bank contact points, analyzing climate and nature risk assessment policies, and researching global nature taxonomies. 3) Supporting the organization of webinars for the New Zealand National Policy (NZNP) taxonomy developed by UNEP-FI. The intern will also be expected to contribute to drafting reports, articles, and social media posts related to UNEP's initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Candidates should be currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 1 year) from a Master’s or Ph.D. program with a focus on Finance, Climate Change Financing, or a related area. While prior experience in climate change and financing is advantageous, it is not mandatory for applicants to have professional work experience. A field of study closely related to the internship is required, and applicants must provide proof of their qualifications.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or having completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program. The focus should be on areas related to finance, climate change financing, or similar fields. This educational requirement ensures that the intern has the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the subject matter relevant to the internship.

Experience:
While the internship does not require professional work experience, candidates with prior experience in climate change, finance, or related fields will have an advantage. The internship is designed for students or recent graduates, so the emphasis is on academic qualifications and relevant coursework rather than extensive work history.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language of the UN. Proficiency in these languages will enable the intern to effectively communicate and engage with diverse stakeholders within the organization and contribute to various projects.
