Video, Photography and Drone Consultant

Job Overview:
The consultancy position is focused on producing a comprehensive video and photography package that documents Ghana's ART TREES certification milestone. This project aims to highlight the contributions of smallholder cocoa farmers, forest communities, and relevant institutions in achieving this milestone. The consultant will be responsible for developing a detailed work plan and shooting schedule, conducting interviews with various stakeholders, capturing high-quality footage and photographs, and ensuring that all outputs meet the standards required for use across UN-REDD's global communications and advocacy platforms. The role requires a creative and organized individual who can effectively manage the production process while adhering to the guidelines set by UN-REDD.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will undertake several key responsibilities, including:

• Developing a detailed work plan and shooting schedule that outlines proposed interview subjects and locations, which must be approved by UN-REDD prior to field production.
• Conducting and filming four to six on-camera interviews with a diverse range of stakeholders, including representatives from the Forestry Commission of Ghana, COCOBOD, smallholder cocoa farmers, community representatives, and private sector actors involved in carbon credit transactions.
• Obtaining signed consent and release forms from all interview subjects and identifiable individuals appearing in footage or photographs, using UN-standard release language.
• Capturing B-roll footage that includes cocoa agroforestry systems, forest landscapes, community life, and farmer activities.
• Capturing aerial drone footage of relevant sites, ensuring compliance with Ghanaian civil aviation regulations.
• Producing and delivering a production package that includes a 180-second documentary clip, a 60-second social media clip, 50 edited photographs, and all raw materials.
• Reporting to the UN-REDD Project Coordinator and collaborating with the UN-REDD Communications Expert and communications team throughout the project.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a first-level university degree in communications, journalism, film production, visual arts, or a related field. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of three years of professional experience in video production, photography, and editing, with a demonstrable portfolio of documentary or factual content. Proven experience in filming in field or rural environments, conducting on-camera interviews with non-professional subjects, and operating a professional drone for aerial cinematography is essential. Candidates must also possess the ability to produce subtitled video content in English and demonstrate a proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering broadcast-quality output. Experience producing content for international organizations, particularly in the development sector or on environment/sustainability themes, is desirable, as is familiarity with Ghana's geography and cultural context.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a first-level university degree in communications, journalism, film production, visual arts, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of effective communication and visual storytelling, which are critical for the successful execution of the consultancy's objectives.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of professional experience in video production, photography, and editing is required. Candidates should have a strong portfolio that showcases their ability to create documentary or factual content. Experience in field or rural environments, particularly in conducting interviews with non-professional subjects, is crucial. Additionally, candidates must have proven experience operating a professional drone for aerial cinematography and the ability to navigate the necessary regulations for drone operation in Ghana.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is required for this position, as it is the primary working language of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in French is considered an asset, as it may enhance communication with various stakeholders and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the consultancy.
