Job Overview: The Information Management Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the production and dissemination of information regarding populations of concern, including protection and program information. This position involves operationalizing data standards developed at the central level within field operations, compiling and exploring data from various populations of concern. The incumbent will work closely with the Programme Team and UNHCR's implementing partners to select appropriate indicators for monitoring, which will be included in sub-agreements. Additionally, the Information Management Associate will assist the Protection Team in implementing protection monitoring systems. This role requires a strong understanding of data management and the ability to translate operational requirements into functional tools and workflows. The candidate will also be expected to support effective information management, digital transformation, and evidence-based operational planning, ensuring that data is handled responsibly and ethically.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Information Management Associate include operationalizing country-specific common data standards and promoting them with partners, including UNHCR data standards and the IASC Common Operational Datasets. The incumbent will compile and aggregate information elements necessary for producing standardized information products and implement data/information collection plans for baseline and context-specific data. Responsibilities also include collecting, collating, and processing information while performing data quality and consistency control, producing summary statistics, and supporting the coordination of data collection teams. The Information Management Associate will leverage geographic data for map production and use in geographic information systems (GIS), share UNHCR data with partner agencies, and maintain Portal data and information in line with agreed frequencies. The role involves participating in needs assessment processes, liaising with partners, making recommendations on technical information management requirements, and identifying and managing risks while seeking opportunities that impact objectives in the area of responsibility. The incumbent will also perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Information Management Associate position include a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or 2 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or higher. Essential qualifications include experience with handling confidential data and a demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies. Desirable qualifications include experience in web design and software development, as well as the ability to formulate information management-related technical requirements and operating procedures. The candidate should possess strong analytical and technical skills, including experience in data mapping, data cleaning, data quality assurance, and workflow mapping.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma for candidates with 3 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent for those with 2 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields of education include Information Technology, Statistics, and Social Sciences. Certifications in Information Technology, Statistics, and other related fields are considered essential for this role.
Experience: The level of experience needed for the Information Management Associate position is a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in information management, data management, digital solutions, artificial intelligence, workflow automation, data analytics, or the design, development, and implementation of technology-enabled operational tools. Previous experience with UNHCR, humanitarian or development organizations, refugee operations, protection data, digital transformation, or AI-enabled information management systems will be considered an advantage. The candidate should also be willing to travel within the country as required.
Languages: The mandatory language requirement for this position is proficiency in English, with an expected overall ability of at least B2 level. Knowledge of the UN working language of the duty station, if not English, is also required. For General Service jobs, knowledge of English and/or the UN working language of the duty station is necessary. Additional languages may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is a temporary appointment for 4 months and is open only to Indian nationals. The selected candidate will work either from the UNHCR Office or other UNHCR partner locations in New Delhi, India.
