Job Overview:
The Logistics Associate in Warehouse Management plays a crucial role in managing various warehouse activities, ensuring the safeguarding of commodities and supplies, and maintaining well-organized warehousing and storage services in compliance with WFP guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach to warehouse operations, including planning and management to ensure the safe and efficient storage of all commodities. The Logistics Associate will contribute to the review of corporate warehouse standards and procedures, coordinate the receipt and dispatch of commodities, and ensure accurate recording and reporting of warehouse transactions. The role also involves inventory management, preparation of reports, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver coherent warehouse services. The Logistics Associate will supervise warehouse staff, identify training needs, and ensure that all team members possess the necessary skills to perform their responsibilities effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and manage warehouse operations to ensure safe and efficient warehousing and storage of all commodities and supplies.
  • Review WFP corporate warehouse standards and procedures to support efficiency and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Coordinate the receipt and dispatch of commodities, ensuring accurate recording, accounting, and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Maintain the accuracy of warehouse transaction records, identifying discrepancies and ensuring immediate reporting on commodity movements.
  • Manage inventory through physical stock verification and reporting, addressing issues related to stock management in a timely manner.
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports on warehouse operations to support informed planning and decision-making.
  • Safeguard commodities by implementing preventive measures and ensuring quality control actions are initiated as per WFP procedures.
  • Review warehouse space availability periodically and implement new design layouts to support business needs and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver aligned warehouse services. 1
  • Identify training needs and plan training sessions to ensure staff have the required knowledge and skills. 1
  • Supervise warehouse staff to maintain high-performance standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary school education, with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area being desirable. Additionally, candidates should possess six or more years of progressive experience in warehouse management, inventory control, commodity handling, stock reconciliation, team supervision, and logistics operations, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and efficient supply chain performance.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant field is considered an asset, as it demonstrates a deeper understanding of warehouse management and logistics operations.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least six years of progressive experience in warehouse management and logistics operations. This experience should encompass inventory control, commodity handling, stock reconciliation, and team supervision, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and efficient supply chain performance. Experience in maintaining logistics databases and managing contracts with third-party service providers is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is mandatory. Proficiency in local languages, specifically Pashto and Dari, is also required to facilitate effective communication within the local context and with stakeholders.
