Job Overview:
The Programme Officer (Integrated Nuclear Security Sustainability Plan) plays a crucial role in managing Integrated Nuclear Security Sustainability Plans (INSSPs) for a designated portfolio of countries. This position involves developing and managing nuclear security projects that are based on the specific needs of Member States. The officer acts as a focal point for the lifecycle management of INSSPs, engages with national and regional authorities, and supports the assessment and interpretation of nuclear security information. The role requires collaboration with technical officers and program officers to ensure effective delivery of projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing nuclear security. The officer will also be responsible for organizing national, regional, and international events related to nuclear security, contributing to project reports, and ensuring that the activities align with the IAEA's mission and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Officer will engage with relevant national and regional nuclear security authorities, including government decision-makers and international entities, to support the INSSP framework. Responsibilities include assessing and interpreting nuclear security information, coordinating activities related to INSSPs, managing nuclear security projects, monitoring implementation progress, and reporting on project results. The officer will also organize events related to INSSPs and nuclear security projects, prepare project reports, and contribute to outreach materials. Additionally, the officer will identify lessons learned and propose improvements to monitoring and assessment mechanisms.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in project management, science, international relations (with a nuclear specialization being desirable), or a related field. A minimum of five years of project management experience is required, particularly in nuclear security or similar technical domains. Proven experience in partnership development and capacity building is essential, along with experience coordinating multi-stakeholder activities, preferably at an international level. A recognized project management qualification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in project management, science, international relations (preferably with a focus on nuclear issues), or a related field. Advanced degrees may be advantageous but are not explicitly required. The emphasis is on having a solid foundation in project management principles and practices, particularly as they relate to nuclear security.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant project management experience. This experience should include planning, executing, monitoring, and reporting on results-based projects. Candidates with experience in nuclear-related fields, particularly in nuclear security, will be given preference. Experience in managing international projects and coordinating activities among multiple stakeholders is also highly valued.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
