Job Overview:
The WGSS Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) in Egypt. This position requires a strong commitment to a survivor-centered approach and adherence to humanitarian principles. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating efforts among various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, managing field staff, and ensuring that WGSS activities align with the UNFPA Egypt Country Programme. The role involves monitoring and reporting on project progress, supporting planning and monitoring activities, and ensuring compliance with UNFPA programming standards. The Project Coordinator will also be expected to foster collaboration among team members and promote a respectful working environment, while actively engaging in communication and advocacy efforts to enhance the visibility of WGSS activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The WGSS Project Coordinator will manage day-to-day operations of the WGSS, providing administrative and operational support to field teams to ensure effective implementation in line with Annual Work Plan priorities. Responsibilities include monitoring compliance with UNFPA programming standards, supporting the Ministry of Youth and Sports with administrative tasks, and developing transition planning for WGSS operations. The Coordinator will oversee the monitoring and reporting cycle, ensuring timely submission of reports and tracking implementation progress against the Annual Work Plan. Additionally, the role involves ensuring adherence to UNFPA programming standards and GBV guiding principles, implementing quality checklists, and collaborating with stakeholders to address operational challenges. The Coordinator will supervise the WGSS field team, monitor staff performance, and promote wellness initiatives to mitigate burnout. Communication efforts to increase visibility of WGSS activities and conducting service mapping exercises will also be part of the responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in a relevant field such as project management, public administration, humanitarian action, political science, public health, gender studies, or law. A minimum of three years of professional experience in refugee protection, particularly focusing on GBV and reproductive health, is required. Experience in program/project management, as well as practical experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating humanitarian or development projects, is essential. Candidates should have a strong understanding of refugee protection and humanitarian action, knowledge of safeguarding principles, and a commitment to the UNFPA mandate. Familiarity with gender and cultural sensitivity, as well as the 'Do No Harm' approach, is also necessary.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This could include areas such as project management, public administration, humanitarian action, political science, public health, gender studies, or law. The educational background should align with UNFPA's mandate and the specific job scope, ensuring that candidates have the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage the WGSS project.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of professional experience in the field of refugee protection, with a specific focus on gender-based violence (GBV) and reproductive health. Experience in program/project management is required, along with practical experience in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of humanitarian and/or development projects. Field experience addressing GBV prevention and response in emergency contexts is considered a strong asset, as is experience working with government partners in advocacy and partnership areas.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Arabic is essential for this position. Candidates must be able to write clearly and concisely in both languages, as well as compose correspondence and documents. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English and Arabic are mandatory for effective communication within the role.

Additional Notes:
This consultancy offers an attractive remuneration package, including a competitive net salary. The position is based in the UNFPA Egypt Country Office, with a requirement for travel to project sites within Greater Cairo for more than 90% of the time. The role also involves remote oversight for the North Coast and Aswan locations.
