Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Liaison Office, specifically in the Client and Business Development Department (AGE). This department is tasked with managing key accounts with the GCF, developing project proposals for GIZ to submit to the GCF, and overseeing the implementation of GCF projects. Interns will gain valuable insights into the workings of the GCF-BDU and will become familiar with various aspects of international development cooperation, including advisory services, processes, and partnerships. The internship will also provide opportunities to deepen knowledge of climate financing and GIZ's project work related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, making it an enriching experience for those interested in these critical areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will be involved in a variety of tasks that support project development managers. Your responsibilities will include conceptual work, coordination, drafting terms of reference, and conducting reviews of relevant studies and baseline documents, including performing plausibility checks. You will also conduct targeted research and prepare background briefings primarily in French and English. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing presentation materials, project plans, and facilitating the preparation and follow-up of meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, both domestically and internationally. Furthermore, you will actively participate in workshops, team meetings, and contribute to knowledge management within the GCF Business Development Unit team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled as students or have graduated no longer than six months prior to the start of the internship. A strong academic background in environmental or climate sciences, development studies, political sciences, geography, or a related field is essential. Applicants should possess relevant knowledge and a high affinity for climate change and climate finance topics, as well as a solid understanding of early warning systems and forest and land-use dynamics. Initial experience in project management and/or development cooperation is also required. A structured approach to tasks and problems, along with initiative, self-organization, and flexibility, are crucial for success in this role. Additionally, the ability to work effectively in a team and communicate sensitively with diverse stakeholders is necessary.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a background in environmental or climate sciences, development studies, political sciences, geography, or a related field. This educational foundation will provide the necessary knowledge and skills to engage effectively with the topics of climate change and climate finance, which are central to the internship role.

Experience:
The position requires initial experience in project management and/or development cooperation. This experience can be gained through academic projects, internships, or relevant volunteer work. Candidates should demonstrate a structured approach to tasks and problems, showcasing their ability to manage responsibilities effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment.

Languages:
Fluency in both French and English is mandatory, as the internship will involve preparing background briefings and conducting research in these languages.
